Controller tracking issues after 2.7 update

On August 28 I updated to 2.7

Before all tracking worked flawlessly, but after the update I often lose tracking for a bit whenever my hands are idle on my lap for a few seconds.
The controllers become unresponsive for a moment and then start lagging behind before returning to normal and register grip and triggers being pressed (when they are not being touched)

Noticed it first when playing No Mans Sky. Tested other PCVR games with same results and even when playing native Quest 3 it happens.
Does anyone else have the same problem and maybe found a solution?

So far I tried removing batteries for 30 seconds and resetting boundaries, without results.
Tried finding the option to unpair my controllers, but could not find the option to do so.

This started immediately after updating to 2.7
Would appreciate if Meta could confirm whether this is a known issue.

Not seeing it myself but it certainly sounds like you have a bug.. Be sure to report it through the bug reporting tool on your headset. Nobody from Meta is here much anymore unfortunately, just users like yourself. You can send a direct message to them here though one of the options shown.

I’ve seen similar tracking issues mentioned after updates, especially when the controllers are idle for a few seconds. Since you’re experiencing it in both PCVR and native Quest games, it sounds more like a controller or firmware issue than something specific to No Man’s Sky. You could try restarting the headset completely and checking for another system update. If the problem started immediately after 2.7, I’d also report it to Meta so they can confirm whether it’s a known bug.

Maccyb123 good to know. this would be my last resort as I would not expect a quick fix, but will keep it in mind. my vacation just started, so hoping for a quicker fix to enjoy some VR now that I have time 😄

jonthan.2026 by restarting I think you mean completely off and on again? that is something I have done daily since the update on the 28th. but good to know it is not just me 🙂

steve_40 your screenshot got me thinking..
this is not about how to unpair, but could it be that when my hands are idle they are being disabled?? there is a logic in it.
so I disabled to option to auto switch and started up some games. no problems anymore and all smooth again! ðŸĪĐ
after digging through vids with advice to clean my camera's, check my lighting or look for reflecting objects, it was a simple setting!
you save my 2 week vacation!! now I am exaggerating, but you did make it more enjoyable 😉

thanks to all who contributed!

If you keep your hands still for too long, they switch from controllers to hand tracking. Rather than switch off the toggle, you could try changing the auto-switch sensitivity to "Low".

been thinking about that, as I had it set to highest sensitivity. I kinda liked using just my hands in the menu's before gaming, but it was just nice and nothing mandatory.

as this never happened before the update, I will give it a try with the next update, but for now I enjoy not worrying about losing control of my ingame hands 🙃
