Quest 1 - cannot set up with Meta Horizon Android app - looping on safety review video

Hi,

I have set up several Quest 2 devices with no trouble (sometimes requiring factory reset and firmware upgrade) and was able to set up Quest 2 devices successfully.

When tried to pair my old Quest 1 (after factory reset) all but one of the set up steps go  through (Pairing, Controller setup, Wifi Setup) and finally on Safety review video, it just loops on and on.

No matter what I try it doesn't go past that. And I gave the Meta Horizon Android app a one star review and the team asked me to contact the community forum.

The only advice I found online to fix this is to go back to a very old version of the Meta Horizon app. But that mobile app will not allow me to log in and asks me to update the app on device.

So, I was basically stuck with a bricked Quest 1 after factory reset. 

But wait, while I was typing this discussion, I thought why not try to set it up with the Meta Horizon app with my iPhone. And to my surprise, it worked. Its only the Android app that is broken for Quest 1 set up. 

Quick solution: Use iOS Meta Horizon app to set up Quest 1

    Yes, it's working now with IOS - somebody else also told me recently that he set up a Quest 1 with his IPhone without issues.

    A few months ago - when the solution with an older Android version was posted - IOS did not work at all.

    The solution with an older Android version is still working..... maybe not with all phones or tablets anymore.🤷‍♀️

    But you are absolutely right, if you have an IOS device at hand, this will be the quickest and easiest solution.
