Quest 3 Casting

Hi, I am new to the quest VR world. I have Meta horizon app on my iphone, same account on headset. When i click casting on the app, it says on the headset casting started and then it disconnects. Yes I am on the same wifi network.

Also trying to cast to TV's I am unable to.

Appreciate any guidance. Thanks

    Hi Tamana2025,

    Thanks for contacting us.

We would first like to welcome you to the Metaverse! We're thrilled to have you here and are happy to answer any questions you may have so you can have the best possible VR experience.

We know that casting issues are not ideal so we would like to provide some troubleshooting steps to resolve this so you can fully enjoy the VR experience.

Thanks for letting us know you are logged in to the same account as on your Quest 3 and on the same Wi-Fi network.

We would now recommend restarting your headset:

    • With your headset on and powered on, press and hold the power button until you see the Power off screen.
    • Select Restart. Your headset will turn off and then turn back on.

If your headset is unresponsive or you're otherwise unable to restart your headset, you can do a force restart:

    • Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
    • Wait 30 seconds.
    • If your headset doesn't automatically turn back on, press the power button until your headset has turned back on.

Please also restart your iPhone and the TV that you're casting to.

If you still can't cast, try restarting your Wi-Fi router.

Please let us know how you're getting on. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out!

Thanks for the update Tamana2025 , we appreciate you trying these troubleshooting steps.

We would also like to advise that TVs with built-in Chromecast or other smart functionality may be supported, but compatibility isn't guaranteed with all models.

If you haven't already, could you please try updating your Quest 3?  This may help fix software-related issues and will not affect the data saved on your device, including app progress and settings.

If you're still unable to cast after updating the software, please send us a private message so we can investigate further:

      • Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here
      • Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us!

Remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

      Hey again Tamana2025!

Thanks for trying those troubleshooting steps!

At this time, the United Arab Emirates is not a Meta Quest supported country, which would therefore be the reason why you are experiencing issues with casting.

We know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but if there's anything else we can help you out with, you know where to find us!

This isn't quite correct MetaStoreHelp.  I'm in Türkiye, an unsupported country and I can cast. There are other reasons that casting isn't working for @Tamana2025 For example, the TV  might not be an Android TV, it might be TiVO which is popular in the region, so an Android stick will be needed to cast.  Or possibly some settings are not correctly set up on the headset. Casting is not regionally restricted if I can do it.

I don't want to disagree with MetaStoreHelp Tamana2025 but I live in Istanbul, Türkiye, an unsupported country and I can cast to my TV and laptops. I think you might have an issue possibly with your settings, either on your device or your TV. Is your TV an Android based one or some other OS like TiVO? If it is, you might need an Android stick to cast your device. It has nothing to do with the region. Casting ability is built into the device itself. Hope this helps. You should contact Meta Support directly and they can help you set up your casting. But remember your TV should be Android.

  • Thanks Maccyb123 , i am trying to cast on my mobile phone meta horizon app, and unsuccessful, for TV i have samsung TV and struggled on that too

That is the problem Tamana2025  .. It's likely you don't have the Android OS on your TV, but instead you have Tizen OS, which isn't compatible with the Quest. If you search your online store you can find an Android TV box that you can plug into your TV, they're not too expensive, follow the instructions and you'll be able to cast. Just beware the cheapest ones look like a flash drive and mostly cast in 1080p. If you want 4k output look out for the specs before you buy. 🙂

Sorry Tamana2025 I forgot to say, if you have an issue casting generally, you might have some settings you need to adjust also. 👍

  • Maccyb123 I have an android box also, is there an app i need to install? I installed airscreen but after few mins its a paid app.

Ah OK, this is the problem with some of these boxes. I'm not sure exactly what else you might need as I have an Android TV, but possibly having an official Google Chromecast that comes with its own remote control might be better. However, first thing you can do is make sure all your settings on your headset are correct. You should be able to cast without any paid apps. However if the app works and it's cheaper than buying a Chromecast you could try it! Good luck 🤞🤞
