Quest 3 No longer works on PC VR, and is COMPETELY BROKEN

so a few days ago I changed the OpenXR on my main PC to Oculus from Windows MixedReality just to get pavlov vr running, and ever since I did that it has completely broken my PC VR, now in standalone mode the Quest 3 works completely fine with no issues what so ever but once its linked to the PC all the problems start to come out. im going to list the major issues with it below and someone PLEASE tell me how I can fix this, im also going to list the fixes ive tried.
-------ISSUES--------
1. the main way I know how the VR is going to break is when I first start up Quest Link on PC and im in the menu on the quest 3, framerate is a little choppy, and the controllers have an issue with tracking, for example if I swing and stop with the controller in my hand, my VR hand will go flying and then fly back to where my controller is.
2. SteamVR, when going into steamVR everything works fine, keep in mind this ONLY WORKS FINE in SteamVR Home. When I open a Game my screen will go black saying its loading the game, it will then cut to the SteamVR loading screen, it has never gone black before, then on my PC it will Load the game but not on the headset, my FPS will dip into the 10s, while the FrameRate is still awful it ill load into my headset and LAG awfully while only displaying a tiny screen of what my PC does.
3. Sometimes when I open a game in steamVR the loading screen will Freeze and when i move around in the vr the same image will follow my headset to where im looking, best example I can compare this to is if you hold up a piece of paper to your eyes and move around as that paper is still in front of you, is also does that for the problem is listed above too. and when that happens it will also do it in the oculus link home too.

---FIXES IVE TRIED---
1. Factory Restarting the headset.
2. hooking it up to my laptop (has the same issue but I didnt change anything on there)
3. going into beta mode on both Steam and Oculus Link
4. Clearing my download Cashe
5. uninstalling and repairing both SteamVR and Oculus link
6. going into the windows registry editor and changing the OpenXR\1 back too WindowsMixedReality from having it as Oculus or Steam.
7. Moving the install folder of Steam VR and Oculus so it has a fresh start.
8. going back and changing everything back to what it was before I went to change it just to play pavlov

    • When was the last time this worked successfully for you?
    • Are there any issues when you attempt to use standalone v. PCVR?
    • Is your issue only happening with one game or any of your purchases?

      for the most part ive managed to fix it by removing ALL files associated with oculus and then reinstalling it, and this managed to fix a lot, but im still having an issue with the controllers flying with little movement

        So that we can better understand this issue for you, we would like to ask you a couple of questions:

         

        • Is this issue occurring with the Link app?
        • Are you using Air link or a Link cable?
        • How long has this issue been going on for?
        • What have you already attempted to fix this issue?
        • What is the exact issue that you are experiencing?
        • Are there any error message that you receive?

        As soon as we have answers on these questions, we will be able to determine the issue and look for a solution.

        UltraGoldstar We do appreciate your thorough initial report- however, since you had mentioned a few different issues recently- controllers flying around, crashing when resolution is turned up- we wanted to make sure that we were still on the same page about your current issue!

         

        For everyone on this thread who is still encountering problems like this, we recommend sending us PMs individually, so that we can gather log files to dig deeper into the PC environment.

    I believe Iā€™m having a similar problem. Three weeks ago I played ā€œNo manā€™s skyā€ and ā€œStar Wars: Squadronsā€ from Xbox Game Pass via SteamVr. Yesterday, when trying to run the No manā€™s sky was not starting in VR mode as long as the headset was connected anymore. Star Wars Squadrons was freezing when trying to run in VR. Microsoft Flight Simulator was saying that no headset has been recognised (although SteamVR showing as connected). As mentioned, it worked perfectly three weeks ago.

      yeah see I dont really have that type of issue, but It does like to freak out and crash when the resolution is turned up a bit

    I need help as well, it is the same for me. It was working fine initially but I was trying to optimize the settings. I don't know what messed it up but I cannot play PCVR anymore, It is insanely laggy on both air link and VD. It literally takes me 10 second to move the cursor from one point to another and screen tearing as well. So far I tried to factory reset the VR and remove all the applications from my computer and remove the registry and all no luck. Meta please help!!!

      Hi there, Prashant017! We absolutely don't want you missing out on the fun and versatility of PCVR gaming, so we're eager to assist further! In order for us to get a better idea of this situation, let's start by clarifying the following details when you get a chance:

      • Has Air Link ever successfully connected to this PC in the past?
      • Does this PC meet the full requirements to support Air Link/Quest Link, per this article?
      • Are there any VPNs, antivirus, or proxy running in the background that may be affecting your connection with the Meta servers?
      • So we don't repeat any, what troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

    Yes it was working fine like a month ago when I first got it. I was trying to improve the texture and resolution for the game I was playing so I might have changed some settings maybe one of those settings might have messed it up however I reset the VR and reinstalled all the PC software, deleted registry and temp and all that stuff but still the same.     Same here. It was happening before. Now it happens again. Many user cases had the same issue at my local area community due to the version update.  Please fix this!

        Thanks. But I think I have no interest about reset the application or other setup in my PC. It's just a simple update issue report. Feel free to create a case to me. Then inform me when it's done. I don't want to experience the long waiting procedure last time.

    So how about a fix? I canĀ“t execute any PCVR game, it launches in a simple window, no VR. Had no problem with Quest 2, Quest 3 is fff broken and it's frustrating.

      Hey there 3am.rndr! We definitely want for you to be able to play your games in full VR, not just a window! Can you provide more information about what you are experiencing for us?

      • Are you able to play games on the headset standalone?
      • Are you experiencing this issue while using a link cable? air link? virtual desktop or another third party link?
      • Are you playing games through the Oculus desktop app? Steam? another PCVR app?
      • Were you able to play PCVR on the Quest 3 in the past? Is this a new issue? Have there been any changes made to your setup recently?
      • Is your system compatible?

      The more information you can provide about what you are seeing, the better we will be able to assist!

    This is Due to an OpenXR Runtime Mismatch. This can happen on Steam games, because by Default, Steam sets the OpenXR runtime to SteamVR.

    If there is a mismatch between the Enabled OpenXR Runtime and the Currently Connected XR Device, you're going to have EXACTLY the issues displayed in the video Prashant017  linked.

    There's an easy fix for this:
    * Open Your Meta Quest Link Desktop App
    * Go to Settings
    * Click "General" 
    * Click the button labelled "Set Meta Quest Link as Active OpenXR Runtime" if it is enabled.


    You may need to Restart SteamVR after setting this.
