Streamer Issues

Hey all,

First off, not a developer at all. However as a youtube streamer, I use metaquest dev hub for the much better quality, and wider view of the cinematic mode for my broadcasts. Every game I run and play is meta quest 3 native.

So, I've run in to the issue with several games where running MQDH, the game hangs on loading (all these games work perfectly fine without MQDH) with a recent example being Titan Isle. In addition, all games do work fine on the meta casting website, but quality, sound and view all have problems of some shape or form.

Just really wanted to confirm that there is nothing that I could possibly do my end to resolve this issue, and that it is something the dev of said game has to address? I havent tried any of the add-ons avaliable in the download tab, as I wouldnt know where to start.

What brings me here is that I figured in these cases, its a tough fix and could require alot of work to sort, for just me πŸ˜…. However, recently I reached out to the team behind The Pirate - Republic of Nassau (HNG) as this game WAS just hanging in the HNG loading screen on boot. Although they didnt get back to me about the issue, after the latest update, I'm happy to say it now works great when casting with MQDH. This gives me hope that its potentially an oversight and not a massive issue, although I'd imagine each case will have different solutions.

  • Hello!

The Meta Quest Developer Hub isn't designed for streaming which is likely why you're encountering the issue when using it to stream. As you already said, when you're not using it, all the games work as intended.

You're absolutely free to reach out to the devs as you have already done to request if it is something they would be willing to resolve, but it isn't a requirement for the devs since a majority of players are not using MQDH as a client to run the game on.

  • So, just to be clear, I'm not actually streaming via meta quest developer hub, just capturing the output via OBS.

Also so I have the information. It isn't necessary for a game to run correctly while MQDH is running and being cast to?

I am unsure if there's a requirement for games to run in their entirety on the MQDH in cinematic mode since that isn't the standard. As you said, if you're not casting it, it runs fine.
