Beat Saber add-ons not sharing on Quest 2

My husband and I have separate accounts and one Oculus Quest 2. I was able to play Beat Saber we purchased on his account using mine. I just bought a music pack add-on with his account. I went into mine and it's asking me to buy it again. I don't understand why I can play the game but not the add-on. It's a family Oculus and if I want to have my own account to track my own progress outside my husband I should be able to. It's not like we can play the same game together since it's the same Oculus.

Looks like some miscommunication occurred, sorry about that ramzoah and kunoichi-chan. The investigation that was previously mentioned was in relation to app sharing which has since been resolved. Content such as DLCs is intended to not be sharable.

EDIT: Disclaimer, this was marked as Accepted Solution to inform others that the DLCs are intended to not be shareable. There is no fix to this as it is not a bug.

This is ridiculous.  I have one headset but have to pay multiple times for music packs if my wife and I want to separately track our progress?

How is this game any different than rock band as far as music rights?

Because Rock Band, guitar hero, and the like are traditionally physical disk games with required peripherals. This means that the games in question are usually not tied to a console's profile at all. If I owned (and played) Rock Band on the 360, I could take the disk and put it in any other Xbox 360, regardless of what profiles are on the console. But there would still only be one copy of the songs, namely the copy on the game disk. Even if I installed the game, it flat out wouldn't work without the physical disk.

By comparison, Beat Saber is a digital game only, to my knowledge. If I were to share my copy of Beat Saber with my brother (not sure if that's possible since he has his own Quest now), this would mean he has access to a second copy of the songs. And while Beat Games doesn't mind if you do this with the original songs they had made for the game, the RCAA really doesn't like people getting copies of licensed music for free. Those multi billionaire recording artists and record label CEOs can't afford to have even one copy of their songs distributed without money going to the record label, you know. The loss of that $5 sale could mean the difference between having a 3rd mansion or only owning two mansions. πŸ™‚

Mind you, I agree that it's silly to allow the game to be shared, but not music packs. But then again, I'm not the copyright holder for the various songs.

Lo, a quest! I seek the threads of my future in the seeds of the past.

Figured this was the case (not being able to share/buy the dlc for sub accounts). As a new quest owner I ran into this with other games on the oculus store, so I dont know that it’s necessarily the music industry that’s implementing the limits.

in all fairness apple doesn’t allow in app purchase sharing either.  Seems the oculus store is allowing the main purchased app to be shared, but not anything that was purchased within the actual beat saber (or other apps) app.

obviously sharing on the same physical device is different than separate physical devices. It’s just anti-consumer.

maybe buying on steam would be better, but then I dont think you can keep separate saves for different family members, but at least everyone can utilize the dlc.  Not willing to drop the $$$ on it to confirm until there’s a sale though.

Same here. I bought the rock pack. I know they make their money on the micro transactions but I won't be buying any more packs if I can't share them with the other people with whom I share the app. Even if we wanted to buy it again, which we don't, we can't buy it on the shared account because it says they have to buy the full app. Ridiculous.

Could you please clarify what will be the solution, I hope you will allow sharing DLC between accounts on same device.

And yet, if that is so, why isn't the information up front and central telling people about to purchase a DLC this information? As you can see from this thread, this information is lacking and feels very dishonest by the company to offer a game that you can share on the same headset with other household members, with absolutely zero way to purchase a DLC for both people on the same headset (without possibly buying a second main game, and I'm not 100% certain on that). We still need a solution to the problem, so I don't think that this can really be marked as "resolved".

Exactly! It just says share it doesn’t say… only the platform not the songs. Oh and by the way you won’t be able to even purchase the song a second time.

We quit using it too.  My kids play with my Commodore 64 more than this overpriced book end.

I actually like them, but it make me think to look at the playstation vr2, I use to play with my wife and sony has always allow share every game and dlc between our ps5... the games and dlc are expensive with meta, and I don't think is fare buying twice the for my own devices... We just dont play together and that's it... I wont buy the same games and songs twice!!

Same with me and my wife. Meta at this point is just trying to recover the money they spent to purchase Oculus they have no interest in giving customers a great experience. I can see them going belly up in the future

So...it's 2023, and this is still not fixed?

If it has been, then the "Go to Solution" button is linked to the wrong post - just point me to it. It looks like I'm in a similar situation as everyone else - bought Beat Saber and a song pack on my mom's account initially. The game itself is shared with me on my own login/user profile, but the songs are not available.

And I'm 90% sure that this is due to a setting that I haven't found yet, but even if I want to go ahead and buy the song pack, I'm apparently not permitted to buy it on my login. πŸ˜₯ That just adds to the frustration, though.

Same issue. Totally ridiculous. Just cost them a lot of money in music purchases because I won't be buying any more of them. Stupid decision on their part.

Same here ...after years the meta support does nothing to help us 😞

I can use Baet Saber with 2 shared devices, but ONLY the buyer -Account can use the music in Beat saber, the other shared account had to buy all again 😞 😞

Yep just experienced this. What a huge let down and oversight.

Why on earth would the main game be but the DLC not be sharable with a secondary account on the same device?!
