Beat Saber add-ons not sharing on Quest 2

My husband and I have separate accounts and one Oculus Quest 2. I was able to play Beat Saber we purchased on his account using mine. I just bought a music pack add-on with his account. I went into mine and it's asking me to buy it again. I don't understand why I can play the game but not the add-on. It's a family Oculus and if I want to have my own account to track my own progress outside my husband I should be able to. It's not like we can play the same game together since it's the same Oculus.

Looks like some miscommunication occurred, sorry about that ramzoah and kunoichi-chan. The investigation that was previously mentioned was in relation to app sharing which has since been resolved. Content such as DLCs is intended to not be sharable.

EDIT: Disclaimer, this was marked as Accepted Solution to inform others that the DLCs are intended to not be shareable. There is no fix to this as it is not a bug.

Oh my gosh, we just discovered this on the Quest 3.  I thought it was a bug, but they deliberately made the purchased DLCs unshareable between shared accounts?  What a horrible horrible company. to do something like that.  Maybe they make a little more money that way, but probably not much and at the expense of any good will.

It not Meta, or Beat Sabre. It is the music companies enforcing their licenses. We all agree, that it is BS, and sharing on the same headset should be default. But the music companies want your money and they will do anything they can to get it. Beat Sabre should of negotiated a better license deal, but they didn't. So we are stuck. My wife and I just play on my account and use Party Mode. It is the only way around the sharing BS.

I was already to buy a second time but you can’t buy on a shared account. So no it meta/beat saber who want the money.

Thanks for the tip about Party Mode.  We were planning to borrow a second headset from my son so we could play together.  Nice to know there is a way to do that.

You would think that after a year of complaints regarding Beat Saber/Queen (for my husband) or any music download, they could come up with a fix for a shared device in a single household. It is ridiculous! My husband and I just bought our Meta Quest 3, so we could use it for workouts and such, then to find out we can't share the music downloads we bought does nothing but piss us off. What a waste of money.  We won't be buying anything else.

I’m pretty sure they haven’t β€œfixed” it because in their view, there’s nothing broken. This is as they designed it and as there’s been no response from them regarding this in several years, it continues to operate as they intend it to. .

We are feeling the same- We have 2 headsets and were thrilled we figured out how to each have a headset and share the apps, but very disappointed when he couldn't play the music pack add-on's.  I hope they fix this, but until then, we play for fun and movement - so if he wants to play the music from the music pack, we will switch accounts and he use the music pack under me and I will use the original music under his name. At least we can both play that way.    It is ridiculous that shared accounts in a family can't share all of the purchased content.

Contrast this with Paradiddle, which not only lets you upload custom songs and share them across accounts, but also gives good instructions for making your own custom songs.

Hello to all! We thank you for bringing this to our attention and letting us know. This appears to be a new issue that our specialized team is aware of and is working around the clock to resolve. Please keep a lookout on our community forums, where we are always posting updates. We want to suggest posting about this in our Ideas Forum in the hopes that something may be adjusted for DLC sharing. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

So many silly inconveniences with Quest! The fact that you can't share headsets, share music between family accounts or have shared settings within a family is causing me so much hassle. Also, my daughter (who is away at college) owns the headset we have at home, so that means a lot of options (e.g. beta updates of various games) are closed off to me and my wife unless we call her and ask for her passwords. It's freaking ridiculous!

Will not be purchasing any additional content either. We were discussing all of the packs we wanted to get, but no freaking way we’re doing that for every family member. Disappointing as I’m the one who uses it and the main account is my spouse’s. We were talking about getting additional headsets, but this has killed the desire. Getting really tired of everyone trying to milk this cow. I’m dried up.

The decision if DLCs are made shareable, is made by the game developer, not by Meta.
Just a little infoπŸ˜‰

Then it's bad system design. I think you are missing my point.

When I buy TV and movie I can watch that movie with my girlfriend and friends at my house. When I buy bicycle, I can give that bicycle to my girlfriend to ride on just change the seat height. I can share my chair, I can give my PC and access to steam account and she can play. EVERYTHING you can share. But then we have Meta.. ofc I can share - just give her, but now it's a freakin bother because we have different heights, different preferences FFS why I can't have profiles that has shared everything!?

All apps and system allows that if you are using one hardware, one system anything. BUT FREAKIN META. Oculus is not a VR for families and friends. This is solo experience with other ppl that can afford also to have Oculus BUT your housemates. Unless ofc you can buy second Oculus ..but that's not the point

This is BS and you know it, I know it, everybody knows it. And either Meta PMs are too dump to see this or just to lazy to do that. This is freakin game changer and adds more audiance. At some point, ppl that share VR might buy their own. But they will be discouraged by the experience

I see your point....but a headset is not comparable with a TV, it's a personal thing with adjustments for you.
Bigscreen Beyond for example is custom build to the shape of your face after scanning your face....probably not very good useable by anyone than you.

You can have a second account on your headset for your girlfriend and you can share your games with her.
I absolutely agree, that it's a big problem that most DLCs are not shareable and just wanted to point out that this is a decision, the game devs are making.

This is one of the worst gaming experiences I have come across. I only bought a quest 3 to enjoy it with my family. I would never spend this kind of money on something for one person in my house to use. If I buy a game or any DLC it is with the intention of sharing it across the entire platform no matter who is playing. Since we cannot save our progress within the game separately we have separate accounts. This does not justify forcing us to buy the game or any DLC twice. This was clearly intended and not a bug. Just proves how bad of a company "META" and Beat Games are. May just have to refund everything and never deal with these companies again.

I absolutely agree that the DLC should be shared across users on the same device same as games. It does seem that there are efforts on some developer's part to start implementing this feature, hopefully setting a precedent.

I would suggest making a post in the ideas forum to create noise about what users want.

Hopefully doing so can help lead to DLC sharing being a common feature.

Beat Saber is a money grabber. I have 4 Oculus’s. I bought them to be able to share play games with my family. But, Beat Saber would have me spend hundreds of dollars just to even be able to play one DLC. It’s ridiculous. If I bought the game. My family should be able to enjoy it.
