Question

How on earth do you get Elite Dangerous to work in VR?

I have just spent the best part of an hour trying to figure out how to get Elite Dangerous to work in VR and I have give up. Below is what I found on the internet, but all I see in the 3D option is an option for ANAGLYPH or SIDE BY SIDE? How do I get this game to work in VR? This is driving me nuts. Cheers!

Start the game in Steam and then click "Launch" in the Elite Dangerous Launcher. Once the game launched go to Options, and then Graphics. Navigate to 3D and select either HMD (Headphones) or HMD (Speakers), whichever you are using.

Ok just did another test but just to point out i purchased the lifetime pass years ago so i have had Horizons a long time.

1.. Launched in VR mode and it directly loaded Horizons.
2.. Launched the Elite Dangerous selection and also loaded up in VR mode.( But Elite Dangerous only )

So im guessing as long as your linked it should go to VR no matter which you choose ?
Without the Headset the first 2 selections just load Desktop mode.
Hope that's useful in some way.

How can you tell if it's loaded Horizons and not just Elite Dangerous? That might seem like it's a daft question, but I honestly don't have a clue because I've not played the game much. Thank you!

Which ever you choose loads the the same menu but one has the Elite Dangerous Logo and the other has the Elite Dangerous Horizons logo on the top left of the menu.
Your still the same character with the same Funds, ship etc .. Obviously Horizons is just an expansion.
To be honest once you have Horizons you would not load the standard Elite Dangerous.
Horizons has Planetary Landings, Drivable vehicles etc. Its just an extension of the game.

When I launch the game, it says it is Elite Dangerous and not Horizons. I think I might have found the problem now and I can't fix it. I purchased Elite Dangerous using a different Steam family account, so it looks like I might have purchased Horizons on another account and not the one I purchased Elite Dangerous on. All these accounts allow me to play the base game, which is Elite Dangerous, but I get stuck linking Horizons to steam.

When I search one family account it says I need to purchase Horizons, but on another family account when I search for Horizons, it says I have it in my library on the season pass. I then click to play it, asks me to log out and then log back in using Steam, but I'm already logged into Steam. If I do log out to test it, it just then says I need to link it with steam and I get taken to the Elite Dangerous website. I then try to link it by getting an email code, but it never links Horizons to Steam even though it looks like it has. Hopefully when it's free on October 29th, this will fix it.

@FrontierSupport can hopefully give you a hand.

I only use the Frontier store version, so I don't know about the Steam or Oculus store versions.

Does anyone what the website is for linking Steam accounts with this game? I seem to have stumbled on 3 websites that I'm able to login to with my email and pass. One looks like a store page webiste, but there's no options to link an account with Steam. How many websites does Frontire have? The main one I want is one with the ability to link and unlink Steams accounts?

I sent a message and got no response this has to be the worst game ever for trying to link a Steam account with. I paid £50 for this game back in the day and didn't get chance to play it. Now I want to play it I can't because of the stupid link problem it has with Steam, so how about a refund?

I paid £100 back in the day on the original Kickstarter but mine seemed ok to setup.
Didnt you say above you purchased Elite Dangerous using a different Steam family account, causing all the confusion ?
