How on earth do you get Elite Dangerous to work in VR?

I have just spent the best part of an hour trying to figure out how to get Elite Dangerous to work in VR and I have give up. Below is what I found on the internet, but all I see in the 3D option is an option for ANAGLYPH or SIDE BY SIDE? How do I get this game to work in VR? This is driving me nuts. Cheers!

Start the game in Steam and then click "Launch" in the Elite Dangerous Launcher. Once the game launched go to Options, and then Graphics. Navigate to 3D and select either HMD (Headphones) or HMD (Speakers), whichever you are using.

Yes, I paid £100 come to think of it now. No, that was an Horizon problem on another account, but they gave you Horizons free on the 29th of October. I've just had to reinstall Windows and to my dismay the stupid liking problem has shown up again, but this is the account I purchased ED on this time.

Check gpu scheduling under settings graphics then advanced I think.  If it's on turn it off.  I turned mine off and the quality and fps drastically improved. It was like night and day.

Hey Riphaven, thanks for sharing the steps that worked to fix this and get this working better for you. Since this thread is several years old though, I'm going to go ahead and lock it.

If anyone is having any issues regarding Elite Dangerous now, I'd recommend posting a new thread with details about what specifically is going on for you, since it is likely different than this issue from 2020!
