Try Declocking your card to founder card speeds. EVGA cards crash in a lot of games from the overclock. I played through overclocked but my card is super stable at the speed I run, been using it for half a year like that.

Have been torturing the card in several tests, never had any problems, also reaching much higher temps. I have the Asus Strix, not EVGA - but you know me, my graphics driver may not exactly be up to date (but Lone Echo 2 says it's fine) - might start with that one. I guess you're using the latest Nvidia driver? nalex66 also had a crash with his 3080 Ti - I think you're extremely lucky if you have not had a single crash.

Also had a bug yesterday where Liv lost her voice - but reloaded a save game and got the sound back. I do believe there're many bugs in the game, even if some of us may rarely see them. The performance fluctuations are another example of limited polish.

Lone Echo 1 had similar severe crashing problems - seems to have nothing to do with oc'ed hardware. It easily does get religious, some say using 80 Hz did the trick, some say disabling XMP mem did the trick etc. I'm not going down that road for one game which I still can play just fine, well mostly 🙂 Let's see if RAD comes up with a patch - they must be getting quite a lot of error reports these days...

Ah ok, was thinking you had an EVGA also. If the card has an overclock on it, still worth it to try declocking some. Be surprised how often that solves issues but yes I would start with a driver upgrade. Im using very latest.

Oh I had several bugs and weird things happen. Was just saying stability Wasnt one of em.

Yea XMP causes a lot of problems for some motherboards and some sticks of RAM. I had a nightmare scenario with that on my gtx 1080 pc. Literally went through 6 sets of 3200-3600mhz until I found one that wouldnt crash with xmp on lol. Was an MSI board too which was surprising but it didnt like fast RAM despite all of them being on the approved list. The last one I tried I kept for 4 years with no issues so yea.

My crash with LE2 happened while changing graphics settings, so I think that one was down to the game itself rather than a symptom of any general system instability. Other than that and the texture loading issues, my performance has been pretty stable. Speaking of the texture problems, I haven't seen them nearly as much as I did inside Harlan's ship. I tried dropping to the Medium graphics preset when I was there, and it didn't change it at all. I'll see if the problem persists next time I go back inside.

I did have a bit of crashing when recently replaying LE1 too (before the new GPU). I had one save shortly after the 'incident' which crashed several times whenever I tried to advance the main quest. I eventually went back to an earlier save and played through that part, and the rest of the game, without further problems.

I didn't get much time in on LE2 this weekend. I'm a bit annoyed at the moment because at the end of my last session I started doing a side mission that doesn't seem to trigger any save points. I did a bunch of scanning of derelict cargo transports and charging docks in space, then went to the side mission area and tried a few times to get past some ticks. When I decided to stop playing, I saw that my last save was from much earlier (when I finished a main mission task), and loading back in confirmed that my efforts cleaning up random tasks in space and starting the side mission had been wasted. I'm a lot less inclined to even attempt the side jobs if my progress isn't going to be preserved.

I had the same problem with saves and was another gripe I forgot to mention.

I could never figure out when exactly it saves but I do know it saves everytime you complete an objective on your list and sometimes it would save when I made discoveries or died…but other times when I died it didnt save. So what I did was fly around explore do scanning and then break off and do an objective to force a save if one hadn’t occurred.

I completed all the side missions I found, its worth it to do them because most upgrade your tools.

Also explore because several only show when you enter certain areas and some areas are not very obvious.

If you want a tip for doing the scanning faster let me know.

I'm here to report same issue with crashes.

My rig CV1 + 2080Ti + i9 9900KS + 32GB RAM. All stock clocks.

I've found that it crashed more frequently when I rised the resolution scaling. But still, it crashed a bit less when it was at 1.0

Also I've got a lot more stability when I lowered all settings to Medium, but then I tried textures at High and it crashed again. I guess that instead of working poorly when the settings are beyond what the hardware can manage, it just crashes.

I never had crashes with the first game. I did two full runs without a single hiccup. My PC never crashes with any other game, but this one won't let me play for 10 minutes straight.

I'll try playing it with low settings (something I don't love) to see if it's really a buggy software issue.

darkgio6 I've only had a couple of LE2 crashes/bug splats (which I reported) with my Q2/rtx3090/Air Link combo.  I'm using High settings (I would think your 2080ti should be ok with high as well) and I simply disabled the in-game graphics setting to disable auto-res scaling (scroll down to see this) and I have not had a LE2 crash since.

Also, I've left the in-game SS at 1.0x since my Q2 at Oculus Desktop device graphics at 80Hz and full right res slider already looks fantastic.  Looks much better than my old Rift cv1 ever did with LE1 at 2.0xSS.  I also disabled auto-res scaling on LE1 btw.

Thanks. I'm trying disabling auto-res scaling right now.

That's unfortunate, try turning off the auto resolution scaling. That feature is known to crash cards in other games, worth a try.

Feeling more fortunate that it ran flawless for me lol. It was still a 10/10 experience for me with the loading issues, bugs, and other issues..but I wouldn't give it a 10 if it crashed on me like that obviously. Shame.

Well... it crashed again with auto-res scaling off and VRS off.

Doh, well was worth a try to know for sure. Sounds like Devs need to patch.

Well guys, I disabled XMP in the BIOS, set all to max, and it worked for about 1 hour without a crash. What was weird is that when I disabled it, the first boot crashed. Got back to the BIOS and set all to default ("optimal settings" is what they call it) and it worked.

The settings change list in the BIOS, before rebooting, didn't show anything (because XMP was the only thing that I've turned on) but somehow it worked. Maybe there was a feature bugged in the BIOS settings that requiered a proper roll back to default settings to work properly.

Anyways, you saved me. Thank you very much

Weeeeeeellll.... it crashed again, and again, and again

There isn't even a pattern for the crashes. It works for one hour, crashes. Start again, it crashes after 2 minutes. Back to the checkpoint, it crashes after 10 minutes... and so on.

I uninstalled the whole game and Oculus platform, reinstalled everything on a different drive. Same results.

At one point I started watching at the audio devices. Maybe there was some conflict. I'm using a bluetooth receiver connected to the original speakers because the flex died (common for the CV1). It works with everything but it was worth to check if this was the problem. Tried default PC speakers, tried monitor speakers. Same results.

I hope they patch this soon because the game looks awesome.

Again, I've read tons of crashing reports from Lone Echo 1 the last 4 years. People have done close to everything trying to solve it - but I've seen no clear evidence of what's really wrong. Not sure it's a problem users can fix - I think there's a problem with the code being exposed in certain conditions.

Also had a severe crash last night, not sure the save game works, can't even load it, it crashes every time. Might have to go 30 min back to the previous save game... That's a first.

With 50 devs behind Lone Echo 2, some must have had crashing issues too - sometimes I wonder if we don't get a patch because it's something devs have been trying to fix for 4 years and somehow they cannot ðŸ¤”

It's been more than a week, and less than 200 ratings in the Rift Store - this is way too low, and even lower than Medal of Honor, thus my non-spoiler gloves are now off - people need to see some proper screenshots and know a bit more about the story. I'll start with the toughest crowd ðŸ˜…

Yea I should have mentioned XMP profile turn off again, but since we talked about it earlier in the thread I didn't bring it up again.  That has been a problem for many games and systems. I've seen people that just turning XMP off wasn't enough, they had to declock the ram down to like 2166 to get it to stop crashing. Ram instability can be a hard problem to detect because you can play numerous games without a problem...and then one slams it the right way and it's crash city.

With Lone Echo 2 having such long load times, I imagine a lot of data is flowing through RAM which it's trigging crashes that other games don't.

But yea, as I mentioned previously, I fought an xmp nightmare on my old system and went through 6 sticks of Ram before I could find an acceptable one in both speed and stability that wouldn't crash.

This go round, I went with a high end gaming motherboard with high quality ram and I haven't had any problems with anything. When I first got this system I ran a memory stability test for like 30 hours and couldn't cause a crash...because I didn't want a repeat of last build.

Btw, if anyone wants to see Harlan in full res - Index res 200% High setting, then he's here - you'll need to click on the image to get the full size:

Bummer - that didn't work - this forum automatically changes shots to 999 x 999 res. But this should work - the image should be 1604x1604 - for 1 eye, thus Index panels here get like 3208x1604 close to the panel res (super sampling has been applied already, this shot is what's being sent to one panel):
