"Not enough memory to run (game)"

When im playing games they crash and a pop up appears saying "not enough memory to run (Game)". So far this has happened in into the radius and blade and sorcery nomad, but i haven't played much of anything else recently. I have about 30 gb of storage left, so i don't know how to fix it or if its even a bug.

THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION - MARKING ONLY FOR VISIBILITY

Hey guys! Since this thread doesn't seem to have too much activity on it, I'm going to go ahead and lock it from this point on. If you're still having trouble with not being able to download games due to a low memory error, there is another thread on the forums that is currently being looked into by the engineering teams.

Hey there, Gibberish125. We can definitely understand how concerning memory issues can be, especially when they're stopping you mid-game and taking out of your VR experience. We'd be glad to help out however we can! Memory is separate from your storage, so while it's good that you have some free space still, it shouldn't be the cause of this. Which headset is it that you're using? Depending on your device, the recommended troubleshooting could be a bit different. Once we hear back from you we'll gladly do everything we can to get this resolved. We'll be looking forward to hearing back from you!

I’m on standalone Quest 2. It sometimes happens spontaneously but mostly only when something is being loaded, like a 3 star sized dungeon in blade and sorcery or loading into a new map in into the radius.

Thanks for getting back to us, Gibberish125. See if a factory reset would help out. Before performing a factory reset, make sure that your cloud backup settings are enabled. After this, follow the steps below to perform a factory reset on your Quest 2.

From the Headset:

  • Power off the headset.
  • Press and hold volume down & Power.
  • This will boot into the USB Update Mode menu.
  • Press volume button to move selection, press power button to make the selection.
  • Navigate to Factory Reset and press the Power button.
  • The device should now begin the Factory Reset process.

Let us know how it turns out!

I have experience the same exact thing, but I still have a lot of storage. So I don’t know what the problem is.

Having the same issues with messages saying that my Quest 2 is out of memory and exits out of my game.  Playing VR chat.   My friend just got his Quest 2 two weeks ago or so and is having the same issue, so pretty much a fresh out of box headset fully updated.  I'm doing reddit searches and apparently the issue is not resolved by Factory Resets or clearing cached data from that app.

Hey there! Thank you for letting us know! Our engineers are getting a better look at this already and we do have official thread about it here.

I do recommend clearing your cache when you finish playing that way the next day it is cleared. Personally this has helped me while using VR chat as well.

We are all mad here.

I've been having the same problem with my Quest 3. It is happening with one certain game, Phoenix Taggers. I played Gorilla Tag and other games, but it never said that I have low memory.

Is the game, or the system faulty? Please let me know.

Thanks Meta.

Thank you for letting us know about the issue you are having. We would love for you to get back to playing your Meta Quest 3. We have found a solution for this issue and would like for you to try the following:

  1. Make sure the latest version is updated.
    • Go to your system settings and check your software update section.

We also recommend that you submit a bug report; by doing this, we will send the necessary information over to our engineers so that they can take a look.
