Question

Oculus TrayTool - SuperSampling profiles, HMD disconnect fixes (hopefully)

Oculus Tray Tool
current version: 0.87.3

What is it?
In short; It’s a free application that helps you get the most out of your Rift. It is developed by me, ApollyonVR, with the support of the community for beta testing. Please note that this application is not an official piece software from Oculus, I am not affiliated with Oculus in any way. Any issues you
have with this application should be reported to me and not Oculus support. You can reach me here on the forums or by contacting me at *REDACTED*

Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) has many features that will hopefully help you get the very best VR experience. It has options that help you automatically switch audio and microphone to the Rift and back, handle the Oculus runtime service, voice commands, batch import Steam games (added to OTT by the awesome headkaze over at http://headsoft.com.au), replace icons for your games and more.

It’s primary feature however, is the ability to create “Profiles” for you VR Games and apps.
Within these Profiles, you set how Asyncronous SpaceWarp (ASW) should act, increase the perceived resolution by using Supersampling and increase the CPU Priority of a given app to get the most juice out of your system for that specific application.
Once a Profile has been created for a game or app, OTT will detect when it is started and apply the
profile for it, without the need for taking your headset of.

If you want to have a peek at all the things OTT can do for you before installing the application, check the User Guide pdf. The latest version of this application will always be right below this intro, but the app also checks for available updates on startup.

Enjoy, have fun and please report any issues, suggestion or feature requests to me using the above mentioned methods. Oh, and feel free to buy me a coffee by using the PayPal button in-app. 🙂

The very nice people over at Guru3d.com have been kind enough to host some mirrors for the setups, so make sure to pay them a visit!

UPDATE 03/08

Hi all!
It's been a while since i released a new version, but now the time has come! 😃
I'm looking for ppl who want to test the new version before public release.
There are primarily changes for the Quest but anyone is welcome to test it.
Just drop an email to *REDACTED* and i'll get you a download link
and some instructions. Also include what type of headset (Rift or Quest)
that you are using.

Also, i now have a proper domain for the website, so swing by www.ApollyonVR.com
and check out the new Forum! If you have questions, comments or suggestions

that is the place to post them. 😃

Below are the release notes for the new version. Please note that this is a Beta version

for testing the new features. If you just want to use a stable version of OTT then head

over to www.apollyonvr.com and simply download the latest version.

Version 0.87.7
* Oculus Dash will now use the same CPU Priority as what you set for OVR Server.
* Added a "Comments" option to Profiles.
* Implemented Paolod29's code for a permanent AirLink (https://github.com/pd29/oculus-airlink-enabler).
* Added more choices to the Quest Link settings for "Bitrate" and "Encode Resolution".
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Encode Dynamic Bitrate" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added option for "Dynamic Bitrate Max" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added "FOV Multiplier" to Profiles. Setting this to a value lower than 1, for example 0.8,
will increase FPS due to less pixels being drawn at the expense of lower FOV.
* When creating a brand new Profile, the current settings from the Game Settings tab will be used.
This will make it even easier to create a new Profile! Simply experiment with different settings
on the Game Settings tab, and when you have found the perfect combo for a given game those
settings are copied over when you click "Create new Profile".

* Added option to Disable profiles.

* Redesigned the Profiles window a bit.
* Fixed some bugs.

Cheers!

Ah, unfortunately, I have to report a crash already :(

I set the utility to start as a scheduled task and got an exception:

Let me know if you want me to send or post anything further.

@Brixmis That's a known issue, the fix will be in the update i hope to release today. In the meantime you can download the correct version of that .dll from the below link. Extract and copy over to the installation directory then try again.

Cheers!

Thanks. The tool didn't crash, but I was a little surprised at the log entry:

I also can't set USB selective suspend to disabled, which I usually do. It just gives "Not Available".

*edit: OK - on second time starting the last line on that log was omitted - so all would seem to be okay. Still can't change the USB power setting, though, so I'll set it myself (as long as MS still allows it after their "October" update, which was only recently finalised).

Yeah, I got another issue as well. Although it's set to start with Windows - it doesn't.

Still having few problems with 0.85.2.
Did a completely fresh install after having used several of the beta versions. Deleted all my config files too.

When I click on 'View & Edit' for Game Library, I see all of my SteamVR titles (Assetto Corsa, Elite, Project Cars, Project Cars 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider and SteamVR), but all of the Steam titles have the icon for Assetto Corsa.

When I click on 'View and Import' for Steam Library, all of the titles still show red crosses next to them. I thought these crosses were supposed to be green ticks for games which had been successfully imported? Also, if I select any title in that list, and click delete, it's not being removed from the Game Library.

I'm also seeing the same problem as mentioned above by Brixmis with regards to Selective Suspend. Whatever I select, it always sets the value to 'Not Available'. This was working before I did my uninstall and re-install.

Another issue I've noticed is that Oculus Home no longer opens with OTT. I've got the following options enabled, "Start Oculus service when tool starts", "Stop Oculus service when tool exits", "Launch Oculus Home on tool start" and "Close Oculus Home on tool exit".

When OTT starts, I do briefly see the Oculus logo appear in the middle of the screen, but the UI is not displayed, nor does the process show in task manager. I have to run it by double clicking to get it to start.

Debug logs are attached.
The sequence of events in the log was:
- Tool Start
- Click View & Edit on Game Library
- Close Game Library window
- Click View & Import of Steam Library
- Select Assetto Corsa entry
- Click delete button
- Close Steam Library Window
- Open Game Library Window
- Select Power options, and attempt to disable selective suspend

Any help would be much appreciated.

I can also see in the logs that the tool believes that 0.85.3 is now released, so I'll try to find the download for that. I couldn't see it on the main page when I looked, though.

EDIT: Just tried 0.85.3 and the problem with selective suspend remains.
When trying to select, I see the following error in the debug log:
20/01/2019 20:47:28: Could not determine active power plan, exiting
20/01/2019 20:47:28: Could not determine active power plan, exiting

I should add that I've just updated to Windows 10 version 1809 to get support for DXR, which is another difference from my previous tests with the beta versions.

Somehow, the forum lost my previous post when I edited it. Seriously frustrating...  :(
Will write it again, as I've now done the testing with 0.85.3.

I'm still seeing the issue with selective suspend, and the debug log shows:
20/01/2019 20:47:28: Could not determine active power plan, exiting
20/01/2019 20:47:28: Could not determine active power plan, exiting
when trying to select it.

I'm also seeing the following issues:
When clicking on View and Edit on Game Library, titles imported from the Steam Library have the wrong icon. I've got Assetto Corsa, Elite Dangerous, Project CARS, Project CARS 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. All items are using the Assetto Corsa icon.

When I click on View and Edit Steam Library, all of the items still have red crosses next to them, even though they are imported successfully. Selecting one and clicking delete does not remove it from the game library.

I'm also seeing problems with the startup options. I've got the following selected:
Start Oculus service when tool starts, Stop Oculus service when tool exits, Launch Oculus Home on tool start and Close Oculus Home on tool exit.

When I start OTT, I briefly see the Oculus logo in the middle of the screen, but it does not start Oculus Home. There is also no OculusClient.exe process for it in Task Manager. I have to double click on it to see the GUI.

I've attached a debug log, which contains logs for the following operations:
- Click View & Edit on Game Library
- Click View & Import on Steam Library.
- Delete Assetto Corsa from Steam Library
- View & Edit Game Library
- Refresh Game Library
- Disable selective suspend in power settings

I should also say that I've updated Windows 10 to version 1809 to get DXR support in between my testing with the beta version and now.

I've worked out the selective suspend issue, as least for me.
This only happens if I have 'Not used' selected in both 'Set Power Plan on Start' and 'Set Power Plan on Exit'.
If I change them to any other setting, then selective suspend works.

I've also observed that if I manually start the Oculus service, then OTT does launch Oculus Home when that option is selected. If I let OTT start and stop the service, then Oculus Home does not launch. Possibly some kind of race condition?

Using v0.85.3,

On boot up of computer OTT doesn't load Oculus Home (even when selected to, upon startup)

Oculus Home doesn't minimize to tray on OTT startup even when it is selected to do so in the OTT settings. OTT say's it is minimized but it doesn't actually do it.

Also, restarting OTT when 'Launch Oculus Home on Tool start' is selected will cause OTT to stop responding requiring a close down of OTT then a manual opening again from the icon. This is repeatable.

When 'Launch Oculus Home on Service start' is selected OTT does launch Home and say's it is minimized to tray but it still opens Home to the screen. A manual closure of Home does send it to they tray after this.

Also, in the Log Window I see a line that say's " * The Parameter is incorrect". Not sure what it is meaning by this. It's shown just after 'ASW set to auto'. (BTW this has only happened a couple of times and isn't repeatable)

@ApollyonVR Had an Issue, that when I was resetting all settings of OTT all content of my Library was mixed with all the Apps of my non VR desktop apps. Also when I was adding Steam VR there was a Error. I cant replicate that error for now, hope it is a hint for you.
