Question

Oculus TrayTool - SuperSampling profiles, HMD disconnect fixes (hopefully)

Oculus Tray Tool
current version: 0.87.3

What is it?
In short; It’s a free application that helps you get the most out of your Rift. It is developed by me, ApollyonVR, with the support of the community for beta testing. Please note that this application is not an official piece software from Oculus, I am not affiliated with Oculus in any way. Any issues you
have with this application should be reported to me and not Oculus support. You can reach me here on the forums or by contacting me at *REDACTED*

Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) has many features that will hopefully help you get the very best VR experience. It has options that help you automatically switch audio and microphone to the Rift and back, handle the Oculus runtime service, voice commands, batch import Steam games (added to OTT by the awesome headkaze over at http://headsoft.com.au), replace icons for your games and more.

It’s primary feature however, is the ability to create “Profiles” for you VR Games and apps.
Within these Profiles, you set how Asyncronous SpaceWarp (ASW) should act, increase the perceived resolution by using Supersampling and increase the CPU Priority of a given app to get the most juice out of your system for that specific application.
Once a Profile has been created for a game or app, OTT will detect when it is started and apply the
profile for it, without the need for taking your headset of.

If you want to have a peek at all the things OTT can do for you before installing the application, check the User Guide pdf. The latest version of this application will always be right below this intro, but the app also checks for available updates on startup.

Enjoy, have fun and please report any issues, suggestion or feature requests to me using the above mentioned methods. Oh, and feel free to buy me a coffee by using the PayPal button in-app. 🙂

The very nice people over at Guru3d.com have been kind enough to host some mirrors for the setups, so make sure to pay them a visit!

UPDATE 03/08

Hi all!
It's been a while since i released a new version, but now the time has come! 😃
I'm looking for ppl who want to test the new version before public release.
There are primarily changes for the Quest but anyone is welcome to test it.
Just drop an email to *REDACTED* and i'll get you a download link
and some instructions. Also include what type of headset (Rift or Quest)
that you are using.

Also, i now have a proper domain for the website, so swing by www.ApollyonVR.com
and check out the new Forum! If you have questions, comments or suggestions

that is the place to post them. 😃

Below are the release notes for the new version. Please note that this is a Beta version

for testing the new features. If you just want to use a stable version of OTT then head

over to www.apollyonvr.com and simply download the latest version.

Version 0.87.7
* Oculus Dash will now use the same CPU Priority as what you set for OVR Server.
* Added a "Comments" option to Profiles.
* Implemented Paolod29's code for a permanent AirLink (https://github.com/pd29/oculus-airlink-enabler).
* Added more choices to the Quest Link settings for "Bitrate" and "Encode Resolution".
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" on the Game Settings tab.
* Added option for "Force Mipmap generation on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Offset Mipmap bias on all layers" to Profiles.
* Added option for "Encode Dynamic Bitrate" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added option for "Dynamic Bitrate Max" on the Quest Link tab.
* Added "FOV Multiplier" to Profiles. Setting this to a value lower than 1, for example 0.8,
will increase FPS due to less pixels being drawn at the expense of lower FOV.
* When creating a brand new Profile, the current settings from the Game Settings tab will be used.
This will make it even easier to create a new Profile! Simply experiment with different settings
on the Game Settings tab, and when you have found the perfect combo for a given game those
settings are copied over when you click "Create new Profile".

* Added option to Disable profiles.

* Redesigned the Profiles window a bit.
* Fixed some bugs.

Cheers!

Hello
I hope this is the correct place to post a problem concerning Oculus Tray Tool. I tried to send an email to you but it failed to go through and the message that came back with it indicated the email address was incorrect and to check it over. I can not see any mistake in the address.

I have been using your product for a few years

now and it is great. I have the newest version of OTT 0.86.5  and Oculus

installed and using with Oculus Rift and Flyinside. After updating the

OTT a couple issues are occurring... one old issue and now another new

one.

Old issue: Oculus Home does not load

up after starting Tray Tool but that option is enabled in OTT, so I must

manually start Oculus Home. I had posted this topic in the Oculus

General forum some time ago but never got any reply's. Just to update this problem, last night after installing the newest version of OTT and running it for the first time the Oculus Home did load as it should and I hoped this  issue was solved. The next several times I started OTT the oculus Home never started.... problem still exits for me.

New

issue: Use Audio Switcher  is enabled but when trying to config, there

are no devices available in the drop down menus to select Audio or Mic, but there was in the older versions.

Another

older issue which has not shown up this time so far is that the OTT

would load and minimize to the task bar fine but often lately after a few seconds it

would shut down and I would need to start it again. I hope this problem

does not come back but I have not had time to use the new version enough

times to determine if the issue has disappeared.

Computer system. Win 10 home ED, Intel i7, Geforce 1080ti, triple monitors.
Thanks for any help

Now that we have easy access to the Adaptive tools (thanks for that  ), I have questions.
What is the best approach to using Adaptive GPU?
Can I just set default SS high and turn on Adaptive Scaling and the system will find the right level?

@pensioned Could you do a startup in debug mode for me. Then, unselect and select the audioswitcher checkbox and then attempt to configure it. After that, send me the ott.log and i'll have a look at these issues. I have not made any code changes to those parts, but we might have some form of config file issue. Just send me a PM with the log and we can continue from there.

Cheers!

@ApollyonVR , thx a lot for you effort ! is there any way the end user as myself may change the Visual HUD position/size. I am trying to use it within the oculus games with my RiftS in order to monitor and tweak the performance. However the position of the HUD is right in front of the viewing angle winch is odd and the size is to big. I understand that I can toggle the HUD on/off with a voice command, but I'd rather keep it on for tweaking. I would like to get it to the size of the FpsVR HUD on steam (bottom aligned). Tried to check the program data config file and the user guide pdf, but no info there in this regards. Could not find any help searching the web as well. This might be helpful for many users i think. Much appreciated !

@bakinec No, sorry. The overlay is done by using the debug tool and there is currently no way of adjusting size and position. I have asked Oculus directly about this but they have no plans on changing it at this time. =/

@senniha1994 Your display language must match the installed voice language for voice control to work. English is what is shipped with OTT and as such, English must be the windows display language for voice commands to works. Or, one can install a language pack for some other language, that matches the display langiage in Windows. It looks like you might have Greek set as language, and unfortunately Microsoft has not provided a Greek lanugage pack as far as i can see. =/

Regarding the performance hud; So the graphs are not displaying any real performance, showing 99% available headroom, like you're not running a game at all? The graphs are drawn by the oculus debug tool, so i have no real control/power over what that does. I'm actually seeing the same thing when i run Steam games, so there does indeed appear to an issue there with the debug tool. I'll poke around some more and see if i can figure out what's going on, but it might be that it's a bug in the debug tool that Oculus will have to adress.

@Remmer_G You can use the adaptive cpu scalnig "off" to pinpoint your maximum SS with 90 fps with headroom manually. When Adaptive CPU Acale and ASW are disabled on game, view tries to stay on 90 fps and if there's no headroom the game just stuttters and lags like hell, as it can't set the SS and use ASW to drop frames to 45. So basically, you can manually take everything out of your rig in games.

EDIT: if you leave the Adaptive Scaling enabled, it just works as the things worked before as it's enabled as a default.

I can't seem to add profiles. More often than not, that OK button is greyed out.. What can be the cause of this?

Also what are all this new ASW options? The help file or the tip didn't tell me enough about it.. I thought Oculus Rift only had 3 modes?
