PTC v79 Third Party apps not resizable

Hi, i updated to Version 79 and since then, im not able to resize any third party app. If i try to grab the corner i am only able to move the window instead of resize.

Im still not navigator.

If you’re unable to resize third-party app windows and can only move them when grabbing the corners, it may be due to a bug, a setting that was reset during the update, or compatibility issues with certain applications.

Would you happen to know which setting that would be, we here are trying to survive this update lol🙂👍

I cannot resize most windows (native apps or third-party). I cannot even resize core Quest windows like the Settings or People, etc. I can size maybe one or two random third-party apps and another one or two Meta native apps, but the rest not! This all started after the first v79 update.

I submitted bug reports DAILY for 7 days straight with attached videos and without. I even submitted some bug reports several times a day from varying apps and from the general settings window. I've included my e-mail address in almost every bug report begging for some kind of response or acknowledgement (at minimum) and Meta is completely absent! No response, no support, no sign of any life!

I've sincerely adopted the Quest 3 as my work computer and have invested in gear and specific IT management and productivity apps. I've tied in a multi-port physical USB interface to my upgraded head strap and linked a compact, portable keyboard/with integrated track-ball mouse via a USB "dongle" for serious work. I "used to" go for 4 and 5 straight hours under the hood with a 10' high current USBc cable draped on my shoulder and back, while plugged into a dedicated 100Watt wall adapter - no trouble at all. Dunkin Donuts, home office, in the car, etc.

I found a way to use a Cisco VPN app (to attach to several Windows 2016 Servers). I installed and very much used VNC to access my users for support. I installed an App called "Total Commander," which has a plug-in so I can UNC to SMB file shares on several of my clients' networks. I was able to move files from physical USB drives (attached to the headset's USB interface), or from any other source (web *SharePoint, VNC, download from site, etc.) to SMB file shares and vice-versa via a Total Commander LAN Plugin. Serious, everyday IT work!!!

I also installed TeamViewer Business, Firefox, Outlook... you name it. I enabled a multitude of tools and put aside my desktop, laptop and tablet. Meta HAS FAILED!!! My Quest 3 is now sitting to the side like a useless junky toy.

I have factory reset it. I have tried varying ADB commands and have even tried to downgrade the firmware from 79.10 to varying 78s and 77s - that doesn't work! Absolutely NOTHING WORKS! Frustrating and disappointing.

I started to sell my successful experience to my colleagues with the idea to all go headset only and I purchased and rigged up 3 other headsets the same way. Now I'm embarrassed and we're all back to our PCs and laptops. Way to go, META!

Dude I feel your pain here... I was explaining to my coworkers how amazing it is to be able to play all of my PC, PS5, and Xbox games anywhere with wifi. Even showed them me playing cyberpunk on the PS5 and they were about to order them one as well for the same thing instead of stramdecks and other units like that. Luckily I warned them of this latest annoying update before they all ordered one. The only satisfaction felt from this is stopping over 20 people from buying one of these useless toys meaning money Meta is losing. Ive also been spamming YouTubers to get them to draw attention to this like when they dropped that ridiculous 77 version. My plan is to persuade as many people as possible not to get one until its fixed and hype pretty much any other headset until they do their job and fix this bug. Hope you'll spam along with me to streamers to make them understand why forced updates that break the headset is a terrible idea so they will leave it alone. Waste my money I cost you as much profits as I can. Fix the problem I stop being a **bleep** and erase the hate. Spread that rage bro use all those IT skills to make them understand the importance of not screwing over their customers. My next move will be persuading younger Gens that FB and IG is lame so they can lose social media money too if ya want to play along.

I still cant resize my PS Remote Play app even with lightening.. Does anyone know how to obtain a previous software version?? Can we please go back to version 78? The remote play was literally the main use I had for the headset along with using Firefox. Ive even tried DEX and still nothing. This is just as annoying as when they got rid of the ability to see texts from my phone while playing or to get alerted when I have a call. Any other standalone headset recommendations? Seems Meta is just going to keep making dumb updates to limit the over priced headsets functionality.

I'm almost in tears when updated to v79 and can't resize my apps. I used a webcam app Hikvision to look at my webcams. Now is starts in portrait mode only. Tried to use Lightning launcher but opens a larger window but closes. In the app I can set Tabled mode but does nothing. I'm very disappointed in Meta and if this will not be solved I sell my Quest 3...

I encountered the same problem a couple of months ago. It is impossible to change the size of TikTok, you have to watch vertical videos as cropped as possible and horizontally :( . Previously, on previous firmware, you could change the window size. Now you have to use Lightning Launcher. Is anyone going to fix this?

I think we’re at 2 months and no one at Mets has addressed this issue or fixed it! Nobody at meta listens to any of its customers problems. Hands down the worst support of any company.

Anyone found a solution for this? How do I undo the latest update I did? Like I just installed the update today, not knowing about this, destroying my headset.

I know this isn't v79, but today I got an update to v81 that appears to have fixed resizing. All of my 3rd party apps are resizable now.

The update was about 1.8gig in size.

This update may be "kinda" good news, but it may have come in way too late! All faith is lost! I can not go 3 months without my work tools being sharp and always ready. A day or two with the option to roll back, that's acceptable.

After being a beyond Meta Quest 3 super POWER USER I had thrown my little Meta toy so much to the side that I honestly had to think where I had physically put it. I used to use it daily - for hours (see my previous post in this forum)!! I think I've put it back on my head about 3 times since this PT v79 foolishness (July through today).

I'll "maybe" eventually get around to powering it back up to see IF that update makes a difference. Meta and their failed processes and unresponsiveness on this platform makes the Quest not mature enough to be respected as a real productivity tool. It is a great toy for kids, with all the fancy screens and "whimsical" bells and whistles, but at the core it is truly just an unstable and unpredictable toy.

This isn't the first time I've experience a show stopping update. The last time I waited about 45 days (when I had the patience because it was all new to me and I had less work and time invested). An update finally came in as a fix to another critical function that Meta had previously broken. I did the same thing then with submitting reports and there was absolutely no communication, as well. It just magically fixed itself - no response - no notice - no reason. Nahhh, I can't!!

It's time to try the Apple Vision Pro. While $2000. is way over the top, I'm sure it will guarantee real support and stability for us looking to these devices to be the future of mobility and productivity.

This v79 was one of the worst ones so far. It ruined my favorite quest 3😢. Left it behind for like 3 months right now. Please v81 come fast FIX THIS FOR ALL OF US!
