The latest updates have rendered Meta Quest PC Link completely unusable.

The latest updates have rendered Meta Quest PC Link completely unusable. I’ve been having issues with the wired Link connection since early 2026; after about 10 minutes, the headset freezes during gameplay. The only way to get another 10–15 minutes of playtime before it freezes again is to disconnect the USB cable and terminate the OVRServer_x64.exe process. I’ve tried every conceivable fix—some even allowed me to play for an hour—but since I primarily use it for racing games, the current situation makes it pointless.

Since the last update, I can’t even launch a game anymore; the headset freezes while still in the Link app—basically right after I start Link. I haven't been able to use my headset with my PC for over six months now.

With no update providing a solution—and the latest one making it truly unusable—I have to wonder if the people involved know what they’re doing; it’s a disgrace.

Every update I hope for a fix to the plethora of Link problems. I still have a stutter-fest with bitrates over 250 which all started with V83 or V85 when it dropped around January.

Had flawless performance for years at 500 and above. Virtual Desktop has no problems with bitrates at 500, even at Godlike resolution so something has been broken with the Meta software. I'd be happy with Virtual Desktop but VDs sharpening is nowhere near the quality of Meta unfortunately.

I've tried every fix I can find for there last 9 months but nothing works. I've even gone nuclear options with resetting headset and reinstalling windows. I've given up at this stage. It'll never be fixed.

I've been having the exact same problem for the past two days and haven't found a solution. I hope they fix this problem soon because it's frustrating. 😭

CommunityCircleJerk You said earlier in another post that you're only having trouble with VR chat and everything else works fine.  So you cannot be affected by the link bug.  What are you doing?

Same issue here. In my case, it has worked decently until this afternoon. However, after updates:

  • Meta Horizon Link 207.0.0133.434
  • Meta Quest Pro 2.7 5150387.2440.340

The screen freezes at some point (sometimes just after loading Link, sometimes after some minutes). If you are playing a game (like DCS) the headset picture freezes, but the mirror screen in the PC monitor still shows the picture and even head tracking is working.

Please, fix this or give us a way to roll back to previous versions.

In March 2024, I bought the Meta Quest 3 along with the original Meta Quest Link cable for an extra €99.99 to get the ultimate VR experience; I now realize that a generic €25 cable would have been perfectly adequate. But what good is a cable—original or otherwise—now? My hardware hasn't changed, but my eligibility for support has. I am no longer allowed to submit a support ticket because the product warranty has expired; instead, I’m told to seek a solution (and please note, I am not quoting the exact wording here) in the forum or somewhere similar.

To recap: I used the product without issues for nearly two years, and nothing about my hardware changed. Then came a flood of updates from Meta—whether for the Quest 3 itself or the Meta Horizon Link app on the PC. The result was appalling; nothing works for me anymore—it’s sheer chaos. Since apparently no one is addressing this and no one cares, I view this as a Meta problem; Oculus used to work fine.

It's unbelievable that you cannot even submit a ticket if you are out of warranty! I hope they read these forums from time to time!

I was speechless, too, no, furious, and realized that this isn't what was intended at all. This is the only course of action left to me; it probably won't change anything, but hopefully, it will shake others up and protect them. I have learned the hard way that the contents don't match the label.

I'm soooooo glad I'm not the only one, I've had a lot of freezing issues on and off with the Quest 3 I use and I have no idea if it's conflicting with GPU drivers either but I haven't gone on in awhile and when I did tonight..oh boy I got impatient.. so yea can't even go on really, it even froze with air link once too.. that's how I knew it was a program/update issue

I have tried Steam Link and Virtual Desktop but my wifi is kind of meh and it hiccups and def not as sharp as a wired connection.. I really do hope this gets patched

I have been having the same problem, And i found a fix.
If you go to C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-diagnostics an open the OculusDebugTool.exe Look for Video Codec and change it from default to H.265.
