The latest updates have rendered Meta Quest PC Link completely unusable.

The latest updates have rendered Meta Quest PC Link completely unusable. I’ve been having issues with the wired Link connection since early 2026; after about 10 minutes, the headset freezes during gameplay. The only way to get another 10–15 minutes of playtime before it freezes again is to disconnect the USB cable and terminate the OVRServer_x64.exe process. I’ve tried every conceivable fix—some even allowed me to play for an hour—but since I primarily use it for racing games, the current situation makes it pointless.

Since the last update, I can’t even launch a game anymore; the headset freezes while still in the Link app—basically right after I start Link. I haven't been able to use my headset with my PC for over six months now.

With no update providing a solution—and the latest one making it truly unusable—I have to wonder if the people involved know what they’re doing; it’s a disgrace.

I have the same problem. I only play War Thunder Simulation in VR with my Quest, and for weeks now I've been having the problem where the Quest 3 freezes.

When will this problem be fixed?

I have found a solution that works for me and it's not Meta. Despite my earlier misgivings about Virtual Desktop Beta with a link cable, I have switched to using this and everything is great. I would recommend you try it instead of wasting time with the Meta Link. There are some good videos on YT about installing and using the beta for link cable.

Yeah, wow, I just tried using my Quest 3 and it crashes after 10 minutes. This is really poor on Meta that they haven't figured out this problem yet after YEARS. The previous driver seemed to work fine for me though.

did you try to reset nvidia drivers. go back...go back... for me not even the hotfix 616.86 worked

i reverted back to 580.97 what i still had before. ...old but good

...i had no freezing, i had bad loading VR and black flickering bars all around...

...this reported some of the people here in this thread...

This temporary fix worked for me:

I have stepped back to Nvidia drivers 610.74, but performing a clean reinstall using DDU (https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-DDU)

My Meta Link version is 207.0.0.133.434 (which I think is the current one today -Sep. 9th, 2026-). I left the H.264 codec as it was.

I have been flying in DCS for more than one hour flawlessly using my Quest Pro headset.

Maybe the clean reinstall of Nvidia drivers using DDU is the key. Try it, just in case...

I have exactly the same problem here. With an Oculus Quest 2 and Nvidia 5070 graphics card. I’ve spend a full day trying to solve it until I’ve found this post.

I hope we get a new driver update with a solution to this soon, as it makes the Quest unusable for VR on a PC.

Hello, maybe I've found another solution for this problem.

In the Oculus Debug Tool set the Sliced Encoding to Off, I think this works with both H.264 and H.265. I've tried many other settings too but looks like this is the one that really worked for me.

I play simulators only (DCS, X-plane, Il-2, Falcon BMS), all of them looks stable now.

My Nvidia driver version: 616.56, I have a Quest 3 with the latest software updates (2.7 and 207.0.0.133.434 Meta Link), Win 10 and an RTX 3080 12GB

Probably it's an Nvidia encoder bug or change that's causing it, that's why the older drivers worked for me too, but I wanted to update after the Nvidia retired the legacy Nvidia settings app.

set the Sliced Encoding to Off

That's a known issue with specific games (like flight sims, racing sims and Elite Dangerous), been around for years. Affects certain hardware and also depends if you are using AirLink or cable.

Ok, I did not know that. I had this issue only after the Nvidia driver update, before it was working fine for me with the default settings (with the 591 drivers, I think). I'm using cable by the way.

MY system is borked with this latest Quest Link, my Quest 3 is only a few months old, and I had it tuned in very well in DCS, IL-2 etc. 5070 ti oc, 13900 cpu Z790 motherboard win11, etc. Now everything I have tried is just jumpy, laggy and unplayable. I have done all the old trick, new tricks. I am really angry. I tried the latest and older nvidia drivers, No help. At my 70 year old wit's end.
