Adding Tone Indicators to Messages on Facebook and Instagram

Dear Meta team

I am writing to propose an innovative feature that I believe would significantly enhance the user experience on your social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. As a frequent user of these platforms, I have often encountered situations where the tone of a message is misinterpreted, leading to confusion, misunderstandings, and even conflicts.

To address this issue, I suggest implementing a tone indicator feature that would provide a visual cue to the reader about the intended tone of the message. This could be achieved by adding a small colored line or indicator under the text or around the text, which would give the reader a quick sense of the tone.

Below are some possible tone indicators that could be used:

Polite tone: Green line Aggravated tone: Red line Seductive tone: Pink line Pleasing tone: Blue line Sarcastic tone: Purple line Humorous tone: Yellow line Excited tone: Orange line Sympathetic tone: Light blue line Formal tone: Gray line Informal tone: Brown line Greeting tone: Turquoise line

By incorporating this feature, users would be able to quickly understand the context and tone of the message, reducing the risk of misinterpretation. This would lead to more effective communication, improved relationships, and a better overall user experience.

I believe this feature would be a valuable addition to your platforms and would greatly benefit users. I would be happy to discuss this proposal further and provide any additional information you may require.

Thank you for considering my proposal.

Best regards, Dinesh K Nauhwar
