Question

Anyone having any luck finding GTX 1060 stock available?

You probably know that the GTX 1060 released today. The benchmarks look good--pretty well on par with the GTX 980 for most games, plus more VRAM and Pascal features like simultaneous multi-projection. Priced at $250-$300 USD, this seems like a great budget card for 1080p and VR gaming.

I've got a 1080 SC in my main gaming rig, but I'm considering a 1060 for my little HTPC in my livingroom. I had originally planned to move my 980 SC to this PC when I got the 1080, but in the end I sold the 980 while I could get a decent price for it.

This PC is built in a small mini-ITX case that sits in my under-TV cabinet, so lower power/heat is a consideration, and a blower-style cooler is necessary to avoid overheating the whole PC. Plus it's only driving a 1080p TV, so this card looks like a better overall choice than the 980 SC, and perfectly adequate for the use it gets rather than going for a 1070. I might occasionally drag my Rift downstairs and plug it into this PC once Touch comes out, for games that benefit from a little space (my office is pretty small, so standing-room-only experiences with Touch on my main PC).

Anyway, I don't see any stock available yet (in Canada) for third-party cards. I can order a Founder's Edition direct from Nvidia for $300 USD, but I'd really rather get the ASUS Turbo model (it has the blower-type cooler I'm looking for, plus it has 2 HDMI outputs for more convenient VR use). Unfortunately ASUS doesn't even have a product page up at this point, so I don't think they're ready for release yet.

Anyway, anyone else looking to grab a GTX 1060? If you see any good deals or any stock at all in your region, post it here. I'm currently hovering over the BUY button on the Nvidia site--I can have it here in 1-3 days with International Express shipping, so I might just go for it if it looks like another stock shortage situation with retailers.

Edit: Decided to pull the trigger on the direct-from-Nvidia order. Waiting on shipping confirmation, but hopefully will have it before the weekend.

Okay, so NCIX now has a 1060 category, but all models are back-ordered. NewEgg.ca only has the ASUS STRIX OC version (now out of stock), listed for $430 CAD (I paid $387 CAD for the FE).

(All the third-party cards I've seen available so far are open-air type coolers, rather than the blower type that I'm looking for.)

That's a pretty good price. I paid almost $50 in shipping, but it's worth it if I can have the card in a few days rather than spending the next few weeks searching for stock.

Stock is VERY low, and a lot of manufacturers are hiking up prices (as there is high demand). The main supplier for the chips for 60,70,80 cards has been having issues with the new 16nm and getting low yields, if you still have not purchased the cards I would wait 2 months for the whole thing to clear up

I used nowinstock.net to get my rift and my 1080. I'd recommend it if you're trying to get something that goes in and out of stock very quickly
