That's how to do a review. He should do a walk from Land's End to John o'Groats wearing it :)

Nice review and very interesting. Altho the look of the devices, seem ... ugh ...it's so "My first VR" HTC needs to poach an Apple designer :)  .. I really like the design of LG's 360 .. its so clean! (Awful product btw)

Image result for LG 360 VR

The design is nice indeed, but if Apple ever releases a VR headset, looking nice is the only thing it will do, cuz the price tag will be 2k+ just for the brand name :p

& it would probably leave marks on your wooden tabletop

Edit: Good review by the way. I'd like to know a bit more about it though... have HTC said what their target audience is? I'm having a little trouble placing this type of VR. It seems on the one hand good for viewing movies, but they're pushing large play area use which I'm not sure it's going to be bought for, at least not without tracked hand controls. Unless I'm missing something.

Agree about the review that's why I wanted to share it.

HTC have decided to keep the system for Chinese sale while they evaluate the state of the "standalone" market in the West - i.e., let others test the water and see if there is a scope for them. Now that there are solid rumors about the OculusGO release and pricing I think we may see HTC (using some of the new Google money) release the system here in time for E3 (imho).

Well nothing wrong with the suck-it-&-see approach.

I think if a headset doesn't have tracked controls, design it from the get-go for the best quality seated/standing, movie/simple app type experience. Keep it lightweight and paired down to the max but with the best screen possible.

...or go for tracked controls and aim for the more serious roaming experience.

I just have doubts about anything that falls between the two.

Shouldn't this be in the General sub-forum rather than Off-topic?

When we posted the last HTC discussion the moderator moved it to here saying that this was the best place. I think its the new attempt to sideline some postings that get attacked. I have really washed my hands of this. I post it here if it does not include a picture or mention of a OVR unit - if you are interested you can find the post.

Great video - lots of dedication (and no shame lol).

I'm amazed that they aren't selling this in the West - they'd have a large headstart over all of the others, waiting until the Go is out and the closer to Santa Cruz we get will potentially lose them thousands of sales.

I'd love to see the list of games this can play compared to the Vive (was he playing Onward?) because this might give us some idea on the Go and Santa Cruz (maybe not because we have no idea on the specs of the SC).  Anybody got the specs of the Focus?  Price in China?
Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3
