Question

German Developers

Hi there,

since i couldn´t find a threat about who´s got a Rift in Germany I thought it could be a useful thing to have a place to say hi.

So feel free to reply here if you´re from Germany and own a Rift.

Cheers
Martin

oh hi dudes...i'm german too, from near bodensee ;) ....now my request.

Do you think, germany is ready for this vr technology? i've got the feeling, after i got my oculus and i wanna showed it some friends, they looked at me after my request like...if i'm a nerd, or geek or whatever. I'm only wanna share this experience of VR.

I've read random post of the rift at december 12....and i want it instant (now i understand what apple follower feeling). Whats up with rest of germans? They dont like new technology? Fear? Or they only want this, if here neighbours got one? Im confused :?

Maybe most people don't see the practicality and appeal in it. The tech is not very mainstream right now, but it will get there in the next 12-18months. From my experience europeans are just less consumer oriented than North Americans & Latinos.

@jfontecha: the quality seems quite good to me. I am taking it with me about once per month to record live bands in a local venue. But as the quality is good (imho) I never had anything to do with their customer support.

    Hi all,

I live close to Düsseldorf and work as SAP manager/consultant. Before my career in consulting (1996-1998) I have been freelancer/self-employed for internet- and VR-projects for the advertising- and gaming-industry.

In 1997 we organized the "First German Flightsim Competition" using D.I.D.'s EF2000 and Thrustmaster HOTAS systems, introducing Forte VFX helmets. Sponsors were Anheuser Busch, Orchid (for 3dfx) and Thrustmaster. I will never forget how breathtaking 3vs3 dogfights can be in a VR environment.. even though we didn't have really immersive tech at that time. So I wish Oculus all the success in bringing this experience to the public.

I am curious in which way I could support the development / marketing of this kind of technology.
Bought my dev.-kit... waiting for shipment. :)

    Best regards,
    Sven

I remember the VFX1. If I had the money back then I would have bought one, but at that time I was on the jump between school and university, so I just didn't have the money to get any of the VR system back then (there were two or three available). If it had a price like the Rift DevKit one of those would surely be lying around somewhere here ;).

Though I don't play much anymore, GamesCon will be a must because Cologne is just around the corner for me. Great event for checking new trends and gear.

    Hi there,

just wanted to share a 'Hi' as well.
Living in Stuttgart, OVR ordered yesterday - guess I'll be stuck on an extended wait-time,
    but whatever.

Originally pure gamer, but I guess I have to invest a bit more of my time on VR overall now.
Looking forward to see this grow, I'm quite excited...

    Hi from Ha(n)nover, Germany

my name is Gunnar and i ordered my Rift on 26.June. I'm not a professional developer or similar, but I love my hobby "projects", like doing a battlefield map for my brothers birthday (with his house in the middle of the fighting zone ;) ), building a "wiimote whiteboard" game table (and "developed" special IR-fingers for input), integrate a learning IR remote in my "Wetab" tablet, and so on....

Problem is that I'm not a programmer, have just basic skills (near none) in electronics, being very slow in 3d modeling (and not good) - so I'm just an amateur in every way, but damn, i have those ideas in my head and HAVE to bring to reality.... :D . Every time a hard fight, but the result was always worth it :D

And yes (you thought so I guess), i have many ideas for the rift ;) . So i will use the time, - waiting for the rift - , and do a small "project" - (could need the help of a 3D modeler :) ) - not just for me, but free for all "rifters" ;)

Would be great to get in contact with other guys here from germany (or other countrys of course!) and perhaps organize a meeting - (at the GAMESCOM 2013 ????).

    Bye from Ha(n)nover, Germany

    Hi,

i'm from Erlangen and I have had my devkit for over 2 months now ... apart from doing some work on Android integration I haven't done much with it yet (originally backed the project because I wanted to use the Rift as FPV goggles).
