Question

Good televisions for gaming on in the United kingdom?

I'm looking for a good mid range television for gaming on in the United Kingdom. I've seen televisions by TCL & Vizo that are priced good, but they don't do that make here in the UK. These televisions are excellent when it comes to input lag, but I can't find anything like these in the UK? So anyone know of any good cheap 4K televisions that aren't just available in the USA? Looked at Hisense, but mixed reviews on them.

I bought a Hisense 32" 720p set years ago, and I'm still using it today as my TV. Works fine, nothing special, just a reasonable budget TV set. Stopped console gaming after my Xbox 360, so not really felt the need to upgrade it yet. For the kinds of TV I usually end up watching it's fine and I don't have a Blu-ray player and watch DVD's hardly at all these days. I used to watch loads of films too.

I think as long as you're not a videophile, then most cheap budget sets will do you just fine. It's important to remember that some folks have really high standards about these things, and other folks will go for the, so say best sets, even though they wouldn't notice mediocre HDR if it slapped them around the face with a wet trout.

I'm using the Samsung KU6300, a 40" 4K TV for 2D gaming. It's got a pretty nice picture, and low input lag for gaming and PC usage. They are available in UK, with slightly different model number but should be basically the same.

@cybereality  - I was looking for nothing less then a 55" screen. Do Samsung do that model in a 55" screen?

@Chazmeister - From what I've read so far, lots of TV's can be crap for gaming so that's why I'm asking here. Input lagg really ruins games..

Again, input lag is quite a subjective thing. What one person is perfectly happy with, another might find intolerable. If you're a highly competitive gamer into beat em ups or FPS's and every micro second counts to you, then yeah, you'll probably want the best. However I'm guessing you're a bit more of a casual player than that, in which case I doubt you'd notice any input lag unless you bought a seriously poor quality TV set.

For what it's worth re the Hisense sets. A quick Google. Nothing really bad to say about them. An OK TV brand.

I can't imagine you'd be disappointed if you bought one of these or a similarly priced LG

I've always gone for supermarket non-branded tellies and they're excellent. The one I'm currently using is an ISIS (lol) 50" 1080p telly that I got from Tesco in May 2014 for £299.99 and the one before that was an InspiRED 37" 1080p telly from Sainsburys in May 2009 for £249.99.

I tend to get a new telly every 5 years or so and my last two have been cheap supermarket jobs and have been excellent.

When buying a new telly you might want to wait until May because shops and supermarkets tend to have discounts to get rid of old stock before the newer versions come along.

Just make sure the TV has a “game mode” (most of them do). That gives the most direct input-to-screen function without all the reprocessing, frame smoothing, and cinematic effects which tend to cause the lag.

You know for some reason I read that bit as you wanted less than a 55". Anyway, makes no difference to what I said.

The Samsung sets are not what I would call cheap either. In fact I would posit them at the higher end of the market.

This does my head in that the United Kingdom doesn't sell TCL tv's. Just look at the input lagg on these TCL tv's 15 ms compared to 30ms +. I'd love to be able to get hold of one of the TCL tv's.
