Question

Halo Master Chief Collection...on PC?

Seems so and it's even going to be on Steam.... very interesting change of direction by Microsoft.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88VBun17AMI

The PC version of Halo: MCC will come in stages, with each game released individually, in chronological order, rather than all of them together in one big bundle. That means Halo: Reach will be first, followed by Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4. 343 Industries said that staggered scheduled will enable it to ensure that each game is "right"—emphasis theirs—with PC-standard features including FOV sliders, 4K resolution and ultrawide monitor support, adjustable framerates, and remappable keys. Beyond their initial launch, the games will "evolve and grow over time with community input," Microsoft said.

Currently 6.5 hours in, and I'm enjoying it as well. Never played the original, but the pure scale of the maps and the battles really sets it apart from so many newer FPS titles. Just wish the AI was a bit better.

How long did it take you to beat it?

Do you by any chance have a gsync/freesync monitor? I'm not getting the smooth gameplay I normally get, even with constant 160fps vsync on, and haven't been able to find any setting that could fix it. I already put the FPS setting to "unlimited".

Well, I found some info on the framerate issue, and I guess I'm just gonna have to settle with 60hz for now.

Beating the first Halo was a memorable Holiday experience for me back when it first hit the shelves. Excited to get the full library!

Heh, I played like 10 minutes more and it was over :(
Hoped for more - but I bought the whole collection, so I'll dive back into the Halo universe again soon enough.
But for those of you who have a high refresh rate gaming monitor, and swear by the super snappy and smooth experience it brings, might wanna wait. This cake isn't fully baked yet.

What difficulty level did you or anyone else play it on? I'm going to play it this weekend, but I'm not sure if to set it to normal or hard.

Played it on normal. In retrospect I guess I should've played it a notch above. But a word of advice - DON'T expect your squad NPCs to do ANYTHING. They're just clueless and stupidly passive.

I tend to go normal difficulty for every game's first play, then up the difficulty for replays. I think it extends the longevity of a game and the replay is often as much fun as the first play when I do that.

I'm not sure why I'm having better luck, but I'm on a 144hz monitor with uncapped framerates and zero issues with it.  It's extremely smooth with no input lag (which I am very sensitive to).  But like you, my settings are vsync on / unlimited.  I do have a G-sync monitor, but I don't know if that's making a difference.

EDIT: Just checked, and yes I do have G-sync enabled, and my monitor says it's active when I check in-game.

Nope.  Still using an old Dell U2312HM IPS 1080 screen.  Does me just fine.  As for how long....a couple days at Normal.  Took my time with it.
