I'm planning on getting Vega, really excited. Also, it's been a while since the last @molokow poll. I knew the forum was missing something...
I broke my GPU, so I have not been able to play any VR.. I have my headset tho. All good.. I will get the GPU when I get the Vega. So instead of buying a GPU right now, I will just wait till its release. All good. I have been playing some plat-former rogue games and it has been a lot of fun actually.
Cyber, I'm wondering if you still feel that way now that Vega's conventional game performance has been roughly gauged. It's said to be somewhere between a GTX 1070 and 1080 in most recent AAA games, and closer or equal to the latter in several others.
Do you think Vega will offer VR optimizations similar to what Pascal allegedly offered over Maxwell?
I want to upgrade my 2015 Maxwell Titan X that I've had since launch. It's been great at 1080p, and decent at 1440p and VR, but now that I have a 27" 4K/UHD monitor, performance in most games is wanting. The 1080ti is somewhat tempting but difficult to find. Vega's 16GB wouldn't compensate for Vega's VR performance being proportional to overall performance, but it would make the card compelling if VR performance will get a major boost from new VR-related features and/or general architecture advancements, or if Crossfire support were to become near-universal.
I did get the Vega card, but I'm not sure it's really a savior. The 1080 Ti is probably the better card and not that much more money. The RX Vega is an 8GB card (which should be enough for now) and may be decent for 1440p 2D gaming, but I doubt 4K from the reviews I've read. Not too many sites have done comprehensive VR reviews yet, but this one looks like Vega is just shy of 1080 (which makes sense given other benchmarks).
