I'm a massage therapist for hospice and have a 93-year-old patient that has been bedridden for many years. She doesn't have much longer and I was thinking that if she could experience surfing (something she misses doing the most) one more time that would be awesome. Does anyone know of Oculus being used for this purpose? I personally can't afford to set up my hospice organizations with this but maybe there is a donation body that could help me with this?
We are looking for an EEG data-set for motor imagery (in standard formats like .edf or .mat) , which has been collected using emotiv and successfully used for training a model . ( i.e data along with the events ) . Could you please provide such a data set and if possible link to a paper that has used this dataset.

Bringing the excitement of the Olympic Games reality intoVirtual Reality – I was excited to try out this new ‘Olympics VR 2016 game’.Itwas much shorter than I expected so although it lacks longevity, the developerclearly captured the realism of this year’s Olympics very well indeed! You play as it follows the story of ‘Ivan’, a RussianOlympic Decathlete. Ivan is the main and only character you can take control of asyou compete in 10 well known Olympic events. The title scenes were awesome as it shows events such as Running,Javelin, pole-vault and long jump to name only but a few. After much anticipation and build up, I was a little disappointedat first to find that just as the game was about to start... I was presentedwith a message stating that I had unfortunately been banned from competing in this years Games dueto steroid abuse, and then the game suddenly was over - returning me back tothe Home screen.I must admit after a few goes, I truly felt what it mustfeel like to be a Russia
I am writing a Cyberpunk novel titled "Day Dreamer", set in the year 2029. Just wanted to share an excerpt here about VR for anyone interested!"AsRider began to settle down, he remembered the data card in hispocket. He had intended to drop it off in the lost and found sectionat work, but had ended up becoming busy and forgot to do so beforeleaving. He spun it around in between his fingers. His curiousity gotthe best of him, and he synced it to his headset. Heslipped the sleek black headset over his face, like a pair ofslightly large sunglasses. Inside were two screens each capable ofoutputting 16k resolution at a solid 120 frames per second. The endsof the headset near his ears did not directly output sound waves, butrather used vibrations to simulate audio through his jawbone andinner ear. The head set was able to create both an image and soundthat were so close to reality, Rider often could not tell thedifference. The headset was capable of positional and rotationaltracking as well.
I think I know what's going to be the next big thing.Real 3D "movies" of real people that you can watch from all angles as if they were there with you, with positional tracking, captured with multiple scanners, played back thanks to Carmack code compressing the hell out of that 4D data to be accessed and streamed to the GPU as needed depending on where you look. Not 3D 360 degree movies... not real time rendered fake stuff. Real people, like they are really there with you. Not whole stadiums, just one person. Also movies as they scan actors and put them in CGI spaces anyway. And as we take our loved ones to be scanned so we get to keep their memories forever, maybe we'll get that feeling our grandparents must have felt when they took our parents in for their first photos. No physics, no dynamic lighting, no simulations, no artificial intelligence, no destructible environments... just predetermined, recorded stuff streamed using the information of where you are looking and the prediction
I was thinking about getting it and had a question. The cable that connects to the video card does it go out side the computer ? i cant really tell from the picture https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/VR-BOOST-KIT.html#hero-overview
My resume is online and I get emails everyday from consulting companies, I want to contact him but I'm afraid I might not say his name correctly.
With VR's hitting the marked, there is a new generation of gameplay coming. But, there is one thing that has been completely missed out on and I have yet to see. It is the realization that you have left the room and entered a new dimension! The thing that has been missed out on is the fact that there should be a camera attached to the VR gear that displays your room, that once you enter a game gives a visualizing effect of your room changing the environment into the games environment. This effect could be like your room breaking apart into small fractions, changing to the game. Just imagine your room falling apart like a broken mirror into pieces. This would more then deliver the fact that you have left your safe home and entered something new. The immersion effect would be enhanced by a lot. The same goes for quitting the game.I'm not saying that every game needs to have his own visualization effect for this feature, but the main gear should have an overlay for this kind of effect regar
I am working on a pulley system for my rift to keep the cable out of the way. My original idea was to have the cable going straight up from my PC to one hook then to a pulley about 1.5 meters away with some slack and a weight in the middle it so when I move around or bend down the cable extends, and retracts back when I move back. However, I'm having a problem. I went to a local hardware store and picked up a pulley which was obviously for a more heavy duty job, and as a result the wheel doesn't spin very easily, and thus does not retract back unless I put a somewhat large weight. The problem with this larger weight is that I can actually feel the cable pulling up on the back of my head. So, my question was: has anyone else done something similar to this, and if so, can anyone recommend a pulley with less resistance so I can use less weight?

I didn't really know the best way to do this but because this community was quite kind to me I thought I would post about this publicly. Basically this thread is just to say that I am retiring from my Volunteer Moderator position. Not like I ever did much -.- Honestly very quickly after I was given the position my life got flipped upside down. I sent the other mods a message saying I'd be out of commission for a while but that I intended to come back. However I can see that's not gonna happen now. There is just too much going on in my life. Way too much for a single thread. Just about everything that could possibly go wrong is or has and I'm well beyond my ability to handle it and honestly I'm not gonna do very well if it continues like this. I'm scared for myself and my future because I simply cannot do all this. I've had a LOT of help from my friends, but it's still not enough. It's a scenario designed for me to fail, honestly. That's just how the stars aligned so to speak. The world

Hey, I have a question how does one go contacting someone by phone because i returned my oculus and according to UPS they received it on 7/6/16 it is not 7/14 and i've yet to receive a refund. I've submitted multiple tickets about it and have sent email but I am getting no response
Watching 3D movies on the Oculus Rift (or alternative headset) in your virtual cinema of choice is AWESOME, as anyone who has gotten it to work will tell you, and there's clearly a common interest in the experience judging from the number of threads asking HOW to get them to work..But this thread isn't about how to watch 3D movies on the Rift (just look up any of those other threads for that) This thread is about what to watch! In other words, recommend movies that you think look awesome in 3D, ones where the filming / effects were done really well and where the 3D adds significantly to the movie experience. Feel free to write up a mini-review or link to someplace the film can legally be acquired.___________________________So far, I've tried two different films myself, Zootopia and Mad Max: Fury Road, both ripped from 3D BluRays I own. Both were phenomenal!Zootopia is of course one of Disney's newest blockbusters, a computer-animated m
Rode the new adapted Air ride @ Alton towers yesterday and to say it was underwhelming would be too kind. There is no sense of presense you get from the Oculus Rift/HTC Vive or the Gear VR I've tried which is odd as the ride supposedly uses the Gear VR?!? Juddery visuals/low fps with what looked like a complete lack of ATW left me feeling like I did when I originally tried VR in the 1990's - Interesting but certainly not compelling in any meaningful way.... so disappointing.I did start to worry before getting on the ride as the people coming off before me looked bored not wow'ed. If people come away judging VR as a gimmick as a result of experiences like this it will be a real shame. It's like they strapped a DK1 onto a rollercoaster and said 'that'll do, we're done...'. If anything it took away from the rollercoaster experience and left little to no lasting impression...
Hi AllHope you do not mind me posting this, but with all of the news around the virtual reality explosion at the moment I thought I would ask Phil South, to write a story to remind every one of an Amiga pioneer, especially with the 30th anniversary coming up. I assume Palmer has one of these in his collection as well :-)http://www.vrexperience.net/Newsroom.aspx?id=120Steve Jones
So is anyone else caught the Pokemon Go bug? I grew up with it so it's pretty easy to reel me in with pokemon :P I saw Palmer post this on his facebook today and made me wonder how many other rifters are playing! I'm in the UK so had to download via the apk but I'm so addicted I haven't played anything else since I downloaded it, I keep going outside instead :o I wonder how many other Oculus employees are trying to beat Palmer :D
Came across this new mod for Skyrim https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQog9lkyH8kGerman version is already out and English one due for release this month
