Is anybody interested in hanging out in an Oculus Rift Virtual Lounge?I've been kicking the idea around. It is incredibly easy to just hop in and create rooms using something like the unity bootcamp photon networking demobut I was wondering what would make this special enough for folks to actually use to interact and hang out togetherin a virtual space. For the demo I'm talking about, reference "Mirrored Reality - Prototyping Unity Soldier Networking More"viewtopic.php?f=29&t=157
hey guys, I backed the omni and wrote them about potential brokerage fees with UPS for us canadians, i think the more people do this the better our chances are of avoiding it, so if you have backed it, please send them a message. :D
Is there a way (i can't see it in profile option) that we can make external links open in a new window ?It's killing me on both this forum and MTBS3D when using a none 3 button mouse....
er, uhh.. Wrong forum?
What are your guys predictions on the future of computers, gaming tech and technology in general?I believe we are at a turning point with computing tech, it has been quite stagnant in the last couple of years and we've only seen minor boosts in performance and speed. We are still stuck at around 3Ghz-ish and still mostly stuck at 4 cores, with 6 and 8 being high end. Virtual reality was at a stand still and even a decline up until the Oculus Rift started really gaining popularity. My prediction is that OLED and/or QDOT displays will be the driving force behind all display technology, much like LCD is today. LCD will feel as aged and kludgy as CRT's feel today, however they will rectify the issues that came with LCD tech such as color accuracy, viewing angles and how fragile they are. Computers, and indeed most computing tech is much cheaper than it is today. We still use desktops (PC is still not dead), a form of laptops that double as tablets and phones. But consoles and gaming have ha

If a game rig can support multi-monitor gameplay would it be able to run multiple Rifts?Anyone managed to run multiple Rifts on one PC?
Not sure how many of you remember that classic scene from half baked. I thought this might be an interesting topic. Just by numbers, there have to be a few people out there with rifts now that indulge. Just wanted to know if anyone has experimented yet. Cyberreality, not sure if this needs to be nsfw or if the topic is allowed or if anyone has covered it yet.

Were less than a month away from Observe Hack Make 2013 in the netherlands - 3000 hackers camping for 4 days with power and more bandwidth than they will know what to do with. https://ohm2013.org/site/So are you going? Are you bringing your rift?Do we want to arrange a meetup ?Even a show and tell i.e. please form an orderly que

Enthusiast here, just got confirmation that rift will arrive this Friday! I was part of the May 28 group held up in customs (Gaaarrr) but that is finally over, guess it's part of being on the leading edge. Anyways I have spent the last few days gathering Rift demos (Don't have hydra yet) take a look at the screen cap, and please suggest any native Oculus demos that I should try that you were really impressed by. Thanks to all you bad ass developers and especially you Palmer for jump starting the VR revolution!
Hey guys,Just wanted to pass along the news (in case anyone missed it) that Star Citizen has upgraded their website and if you kickstarted you need to go migrate your account. You'll get a bunch of new free stuff for doing it.They are also doing another 24 hour live stream right now:https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link//13099-RSI-Prime-Livestream
Okay so I was perusing the Rock Paper Shotgun website and came across this article about a product being kickstarted called the ARAIG (as real as it gets) its a suit that simulates the action that you see on screen, you will feel the vibrations and you will feel the bullets. I can't really do it justice so here is the kickstarter, the price point for the suit is 325$ (limited quantity). Now imagine playing a game with this and the rift. All of the possibilities!http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/141790329/araig-as-real-as-it-gets

Hello Rifters (thanks at Cymatic Bruce for this word :) ),cause i want to show my friends a great oculus feeling (they dont know what happend, cause they don't know, what they expect at rift)...i've tryed some stuff around...they should get out of the demo's and say "WTF WHAT'S HAPPENED"Cause of this, i have only one chance to convince "nonrifters" to "rifted"....so i wanna show them best xp, that i can get out of my existing systems.I've thought at first about that...i maybe visit my friends with laptop...my laptop got nvidea 555m...its not good, not bad, but it's ok....tryed some option's around...tryed to focus graphiccard, that card only rendering riftscreen, but result was not as good as i hoped (or course 1920x1200 i hate cube graphics)....so if your laptop got worser card then nvidea 555m, forget it...they maybe got sick at this maximum resolution....this would be the worst fail. Now i would invite my friends to my home. My desktop got "nvidea N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC"....to b

We all know that your visual field changing without your body moving can sometimes cause motion sickness. What I was wondering is if works the other way around also. If by using vestibular stimulation and your brain detects motion but the visual field remains unchanged will this cause motion sickness also? Furthermore, if you provide a matching visual stimuli while performing vestibular stimulation does this cause sickness as well?I have never tried vestibular stimulation but it would be interesting to hear someone's experience of what they noticed in this regard. Just curious!
i just read this on Reddit. Looks like something is brewing but what I have no ideal. I think he is conspiring to make us all lose sleep trying to figure out what he has planned. http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/1fezsi/big_news_that_was_announced/Could have something to do with this? But probably not!http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1feqgi/i_had_the_opportunity_to_visit_valve_for_2/ca9kr7nIt looks like Palmer knows what is coming for E3 and is having trouble keeping it in. Just let it out Palmer we promise not to tell anyone about it!

Until this point, I've been a gamepad man and a M+KB man for shooters. Now I have to wonder, what would be the most absolutely ideal form of interacting with the gameworld for the best sense of immersion?Let's say the genre of game is an open world first person shooter. Like a combination of Fallout 3 and WoW, because why not?Razer Hydra? Maybe for now, but I just have a hard time seeing these things as immersive, or likely to be widely supported by developers. They can tell you hand position and orientation, but that means 99% of your avatar's movement is using the game's canned animations. I think everybody having the exact same movements and universal lack of body language would end up being immersion breaking similarly to how much it stats to eat at me when I think about how everybody in Elder Scrolls games has the exact same body and musculature.I can exclude mouse and keyboard and gamepads for similar reasons, so that really only leaves kinect. If you can be fully scanned by the
