Question

Mynew toy(s) inc! Finally..

Right, so I've been to every local hardware store, and no one sells this. Double ya tee eff. I finally put down the $50 in shipping/handling for 12 of these guys:

Hoping to have the project this is for completed by March/April.. I hope. Details on the use of this notwithstanding, but the modification that this is used for, sold complete, would cost about $1500 USD. I can piece it together for $600.

Secretary is better. I haven't seen/read 50 shades, but it's Twilight fanfic so eh.. I read some excerpts and they were absolutely terrible.

I'm surprised.. very surprised. Ah well, stranger things have happened.

On a side note and as a separate project, my other two toys came in as well 8-)

Next couple of weeks, I'll be getting a VuVantage VuPackPro, Steadicam Curve, and a MS Surface Pro 3 for recording and editing while out in the field (or woods, or backcountry, w/e).

What are you doing out in the woods with a camera? Torturing the ceo of Victor Entertainment and making a snuff film?

Also, wasn't this forum about VR? This is the weirdest forum I've been on..

Uhh, no. In a few years, before I get too old to do it, I would like to go for the Triple Crown, with a bike tour across the 5 major routes in the US (Northern Tier, Southern Tier, Pacific Coast, Atlantic Coast, and TransAm).

Currently in the gathering and testing phases.

edit: Oh, and welcome to off-topic!

However, speaking of VR, I did get in contact with JauntVR about this project, however, the weight of the cameras are way too heavy to do this w/o van support :\ 15lbs for just the camera, not too mention all of the batteries I would need to take. In something like this, every ounce counts... so instead of filming for VR, I guess std video will have to do :(

Have you looked into a single 360 cam?
There's a great thread in the stereoscopic section that lists and discusses alternatives to a Gopro setup.

Some of the cameras look promising. I've got my eye on this one as it has the largest vertical FOV.

I'll take another look before I leave on the trip.. technology moves fast in this field.

During my weekend outdoor trips to "gear test", I plan on doing some "how to live" in the backcountry. Not really survival, since, well, this is how we lived 2000 years ago, and we strived then, so it's not like its impossible (or hard). As the saying goes, knowledge is power.

edit: one thing I also have to consider is durability. The camera(s) will be out in the field for quite some time.. if this trip happens, which I hope it will, especially after spending all this money on it!

edit 2: And on the subject of "the movie", it was horrible; in more ways than just a few.

Think Dragonball Evolution.. or was that Revolution type of bad. Horrible acting, horrible directing. It was a $50 million dollar peice of crap.
