Having actually used one I see nothing "rushed to market." At least not any more than literally everything else ever released in the world. Like... cars, planes, food :|

It's easy to feel that this device is flawed or rushed if you are only focusing on the online discussions that specifically address defects and exceptions. Two of my co-workers have one and play it extensively, and both beat Zelda this past week (one of them let me use it a few weeks ago). Yet despite beating it, their completion rates were under 30% of the entire game. The addiction factor to "do everything" is pretty fantastic.

Whatever flaws in this Gen 1 design of the Switch that are causing issues for some people will surely be fixed. But anyone who is a fan of Nintendo and Zelda shouldn't wait. As long as you know how to treat technology and devices with something that resembles "care" then you will be fine.

Nintendo acknowledged the manufacturing defect causing the left Joy-con bluetooth connectivity issues.  They fixed it and said future shipments are supposed to have addressed the problem.  Since it is out of stock everywhere, that shouldn't be a problem.  Just pick one up the next time you see one.

Nice article. It does confirm that this is a manufacturing defect that impacts a smaller subset of the overall availability. Which is not the same thing as a design flaw caused by being "rushed to market."

Manufacturing errors happen in every industry. It's good to see that Nintendo is offering free repairs and has already fixed the problem with all units going forward.

Finally bought one today on Amazon.  They had online stock for 5 minutes.  Arrives Saturday, but will stay in my closet until Christmas.  Now I don't have to worry about holiday shortages and can acquire games and Amiibos for my son.  I tell you what, after trying to snap one of these at Walmart.com and Bestbuy.com following text alerts for new inventory from nowinstock.net only to meet website crashes and sold-out messages in minutes, I can tell you first-hand there is a massive demand for these things.  No way in hell anyone is finding these things in the store after September or so without camping out.  Buy one soon if you want one.

Yeah, got one from Amazon too this morning. Someone just needs to figure out how to sell extra time so I can play all these games.

I hear ya. I'm in the middle of both Zelda and Mass Effect right now. With Persona just around the corner.

My beloved Rift is feeling neglected (though I'm playing Mass Effect mostly in Virtual Desktop, at least).

You know what's harder to get, surprisingly enough? The NES Classic.  STILL trying to time one of those online, but retailers are getting far less resupplies for it.

Sorry that I'm bringing up an old thread, but I have a question regarding the nintendo switch. Anyone with or without a switch, I have a question for you, does the joycon allow for point and click navigation on the screen? Just like how you play metroid 3 on the original nintendo wii and you used the wii remote to aim and shoot, is this on the nintendo switch?

The Switch JoyCon has orientation tracking (gyro, etc.) but no external sensor (like Wii) so it's more limited with using it like a laser pointer. I mean, developers can probably try but I'm not sure it will be to the level of Metroid.
