You can create a VR room (or just use an existing room) and go there to have live group discussions in virtual reality.

EDIT: VRChat is looking very cool, I'll bet they are looking into this:

Have users make a 3D mesh of their head something like this:




Then simple voice chat around a table of avatars (can customize body proportions) with those head models.

Head model can be translated/rotated to slave users HMD.

Spatialised audio for each user. Then a bit of fibonacci blinking and some rudimentary lip synching to the VOIP.

Actually, VRchat already has all this. Except blinking which is easily incorporated.

Just want to let you know that every Tuesday, 9:30 pm EST there's an interview show on VRchat called Gunter's Universe. The host, Gunter has 1-3 guests from the VR industry. The "live" audience consists of about 20 or so folks dressed up in their finest avatar attire. There are avatars available for those who can't provide their own. The show is very noob friendly and lasts 1 - 1.5 hours. The after party is always fun. Personally, I can't help but feel like I'm witnessing a part of VR history in the making. It's literally something that's never been done before. I hope to see you there.

Last week's show

The other day I met a vrchat user who had scanned himself in, I hope you check it out, the community there is great!

Last night I sat in the audience of Gunters Universe in VRChat.

Heard chat and stories from guys who have organised VR meetups and conventions, great stuff! There was a giant insect sat behind me listening along (maybe an earwig?), tiny arms, but mandibles more than big enough to nip off my standard businessman avatars head :D

VRChat seems to be evolving nicely, the format of having a table of central speakers with a surrounding gallery was great, spatialized audio was awesome, it all worked really well. I read on the VRChat forum that there is even a GearVR build in dev status.

I'm definitely interested in any VR meetups, if you have any info about where any will be happening, please let me know. I tried finding VR-minded people in my local area and only found 3 so always open to meeting more folks

From what I remember, the chat was mainly info about past meetups, how they were organised, pitfalls to watch out for if you organise one etc. Living in Europe, it was 5:00 AM for me, so my listening was not super attentive.
