Question

So what's everyone planning to buy this Black Friday / Cyber Monday?

The time of awesome bargains on electronics and other goodies will soon be upon us again;  I'm curious if anyone's got specific things they're hoping to get a deal on this year.   (Maybe we'll give each other ideas by sharing).

Personally, I'm hoping to find a bargain on a nice camera of some sort.. right now all I have to take pictures with is a $20 phone and a webcam, so I'm obviously pretty limited in either quality or practicality.

Some good earbuds would be nice, too. Like a set that would normally cost between $50 - $100.  Hopefully something by Audio-Technica...   (I'd just get some Oculus Earbuds but I don't think I can plug those into anything but the Rift itself, lol).

Cyber Monday is a bit better than Black Friday, since manufacturers starting maker "lesser quality" products specifically for Black Friday. And the only good stuff is in such limited quantity that you gotta camp out for 48 hours and pack survival gear: stun gun, pepper spray, etc.

All I ever do around that time is wait to see what games go on special. And I typically prefer to wait the extra 7-ish weeks for all the "after Christmas" sales.

@Zoomie - I'm not really sure which I'm going to go for.. quality is definitely something that matters to me, because... why do something if you can't do it well?   But if the portable cameras are significantly cheaper, and easier to use and require less maintenance, etc. ... I might settle for one of those.  I'm not looking to be a pro photographer or anything, more like.. sometimes I see a really cool bug or some nice scenery or I want to take pictures of my pets and I wish I could take photos I'd be proud to post on the internet.

In the end, I guess it will mostly come down to what I see the best deal for.   I'm not afraid to spend SOME money on this, but the whole point of black friday / cyber monday is getting good stuff for a price you'd never find it at otherwise, right?

If you're leaning towards point and shoot cameras, then there are a few options out there worth researching.
I bought my GF a Panasonic Lumix and she has taken some excellent shots with it.  I cross shopped the high-end Canon Powershots and Sony cameras like the RX100.  My recommendation is to look at the optical zoom of the camera and ignore the digital zoom values.  Look at the sensor size and density if they provide those statistics.  Go and actually play with the cameras to see which one fits naturally in your hand and just seems to naturally do what you want it to do.

If you end up going with a DSLR then send me a pm and I'll try to give you a run down on brands and features I'd recommend.

Still love my canon 650d (rebel in the US) I have some great lenses and wouldn't change it, in fact I'll replace it with another when it dies ;)

On second thought I think Black Friday here is only a shadow of what it is in the US. Here it's mostly some good deals online and not crazy like in the US. I have been living outside of the US for almost a decade so I am a little out of touch I guess with things there.

I have some music gear I'm looking to buy.  Not that there's been anything but the lowest quality gear on sale the last few BF's.  But I'm hoping since Gibson's 2017 line is out that the 2016's will be on sale.  Maybe a 15 or 20% coupon I can use on a Kemper.  Maybe I can snag one cheap on Ebay while everyone's busy shopping. ;)
