Question

So will the gear vr work with a pc like the rift?

Is the gear vr just for mobile use or will it work with the pc to like the rift? cause id rather just get that and be done. I don't need multiple head sets lying around.

In the Gear VR, the screen you're looking at is from a smartphone that you put into it (in this case, a Note 4). So unless you can somehow pipe the output of your desktop PC's display into your Note4, AND somehow enable the headset to communicate its orientation with extremely low latency to your PC, it's going to be an entirely separated experience.

Mobile VR = portable, with a more casual class of experiences. Desktop VR = confined to your room, but much higher limits on the types and depth of experiences available. "Laptop VR" will probably go away entirely as it is replaced by the convenience of Mobile VR.

Maybe someday they'll merge, but it's probably a long way off.
