I'm sure that anyone who has never tried VR would be blown away by something like this. However, here's an honest Review from a Reddit user who was already experienced with the Rift before trying this Void experience:

I
was lucky enough to get a ticket to this on its opening day. I mostly
agree with the review... I went in with a teenage kid who had never used
VR before and it blew his mind. I've had a rift for a few months at
this point and I can say that at present, the Void's tracking solution
is really cool in that it can track your hands without gloves or a
controller, but it is glitchy.
Not so bad that it ruined the experience,
but my hands definitely stretched and lagged a few times. The gun
tracking worked well though. I agree with the review that it didn't feel
very satisfying to shoot.

It was a really cool experience, but I was disappointed in that it
wasn't a very good game
. I was hoping for something more like laser tag
or paintball, but it's a bit more like a (very thematic) shooting
gallery that you walk through. It is very mechanically simple. I play a
lot of robo recall because the gun play is so satisfying. But this... I
did it once and had fun. I'm glad I did it, but I don't feel like I
would ever need to do it again.

The Void really needs to rethink their core design if they want to
have a lot of recurring visitors
, especially if they want to appeal to
people who already own VR systems
. Which I suspect is most of the people
who would seek this out to begin with.

The Reddit user touches on something that I've been saying for over a year: These businesses won't be able to sustain themselves for long if they can't rely on "repeat business" (recurring visitors).  I mean... here we have someone who would rather just go back to playing Robo Recall than visit The Void again. Yikes!

Vrcades deserve better and many will fail.

I went to the Void yesterday with my Brother and Nephew, we all loved it. I thought it was great moving from room to room and each room having a prop which was in the game but real life as well e.g. seats to sit on, a handle on the wall, some railings and buttons to push. I loved the fact you could feel the heat on the back of you and the wind as you transitioned between ships. Also feeling shots hitting you in the body from storm troopers were great.
The hand tracking was slightly glitchy but it didn't detract from the game, my brother and I had to position the headset slightly upwards to get the focus correct which I think affected the front cameras.

All in all a great experience and definitely one I'll do again. It would be good to see a company do it on a larger scale in bigger rooms for longer periods.

Great that you all had a good time - was the price okay for you all?

I can confirm that there are a number of new game experiences planned for the system, and also looking at additional chapters to the base experience. The need for repeat visitation drives much of what is done in Out-of-Home entertainment.

I thought the price was just right in my opinion, the only thing that was a problem was driving around the car park for 45mins trying to find a space but that's nothing to do with the Void (I would get a train next time).

That's good to hear that's it's not a temporary setup and they are looking at new game experiences.

The London site is temporary, but will travel to a number of other sites in the coming months so all the territory gets their chance.

Aaaahhh ok, hopefully they'll come down south then as I'm near Winchester......it should only take just over an hour to get there by car but it took two in the end.
