Sword Art Online II ( Gun Gale Online ) announced! + TRAILER

My friend told me that Kirito plays as a female character this time. I'm having a hard believing this because iv'e seen on many sites that there is completely DIFFERENT characters. I need the truth so pls tell me i can't wait :|

Considering all the hype about Sword Art Online there is on the Oculus forums, I was rather disappointed in what it offered as far as the anime went. I could blame the hyper melodrama, but even the two MMO games were not that impressive both in how they were presented and how it assumed players would bother to play on it. It just seems like an anime that went for the generic drama with too many head slapping moments that took away the fun. Not saying every drama should be of the quality of Ikebukuro West Gate Park or Tiger and Dragon or even an anime like Death Note, but it is something I prefer.

I hope that SAO season 2 is an improvement, but somehow I doubt it. They seemed too dead set on thinking that MMO's must be a matter of real world life and death to have any sort of story value. They forget that there's been some pretty good shows that center around basketball, baseball and even Go where nobody's life hung in the balance. It just focused on the passion people had for that form of entertainment and the mini-society that builds up around it.

My only issue with SAO was the story development felt to rushed. I'm not sure if the original manga had more content, but the anime felt like the chapters should have been several episodes longer.

As for the next chapter. Ugg. I don't care for FPS's. And I find it disappointing to associate RPGs with FPSs. They're two different types of games, and to assume audiences will enjoy a chapter with such a shift in the backbone of the story, is stupid. I'll still watch, but I'm not going in expecting much. I suspect it will be the jump-the-shark point like the "N Saga" was for Death Note. Not completely un-watchable, but significantly more lame then the previous chapters,

Excellent news!

As far as Kirito being a girl:

He chooses a random model for his character, and the AI system chooses a guy, but with female attributes.

Sword skills:

He finds two swords to fight this game with guns, and uses his SAO sword skills to deflect bullets, lol

Also, this anime will introduce something we've been hearing about IRL, and that is, using VR for helping patients with PTSD.
