The "I'm effin Quarantined" Megathread

Governments across the Globe are in Quarantine, so I figured that this community could use a thread to discuss our first-hand experience of its impact. As a side note, I never would have guessed that a global pandemic would be the primary driver to getting VR more mainstream!
:p

For me, I had taken a long break from VR. I have maybe engaged in VR for 1 hour ever 2-3 weeks. It's been that way for nearly 6 months now. Mostly because I feel that I've experienced so much since I first acquired my Rift in 2016; I got to the point that everything (even new AAA titles) started to feel like 'more of the same.' This is something that has impacted me before. For example, I began gaming with the Atari 2600 as a kid, moved on to NES, SNES, Sega, and eventually PC Gaming. But I took a very long break from gaming (over 5 years) because I hit a point where everything on every gaming platform felt like a regurgitation of something I've done before.

However, now that I'm stuck home for at least 2 weeks during quarantine... it's time to jump back on to the fray!

So...
  1. What games/experiences will you be engaging in with VR?
  2. What non-VR activities will be occupying your time?
  3. Are you one of the people who can work from home during quarantine? Or is this pandemic negatively impacting your job?
  4. Are you hoarding food and toilet paper?

I'll answer first:
  1. I will be (finally) completing SkyrimVR. Before I took my VR "break," I had already completed both DLC's in SkyrimVR, and I'm already near the end of the main quest. After that, I will be loading up Stormland.
  2. I'm playing through Divinity Original Sin for the first time, in preparation for the upcoming release of Baldur's Gate 3. Beyond software, I will be doing lots of exercise.. Gotta keep up the conditioning!
  3. Since I'm a software engineer who has been working from home primarily for at least the past 10 years, this quarantine will be... more of the same.
  4. I'm a non-hoarder, but wondering if I will regret it.

Doom Eternal is quite amazing. It plays more like the Metro series but with that brutal Doom twist. I just played for over 2 hours straight. The campaign is addicting and highly action-packed.

The graphics are splendid:

I preordered Doom Eternal on Bethesda launcher and i was going to play it, but i got urgent call to work. Not sure when i got next free day. Good thing is that im still healthy and we get all protective clothing and stuff from work. Cant and wont touch anything with bare skin.

Lots of colleagues getting sick lately. Im worried especially for older ones. Tho no one is confirmed to have corona yet.

I'm still going strong with Doom, it has taken over my gaming time.

The demonic areas are done really well.

I just unlocked more parts of my ship, which hovers above the Earth. The ship is huge, and has many rooms and options. Such as being able to view your collectibles. I l love the wall of guitars:

You can even go outside the ship! This would be amazing in Virtual Reality.

My nephew in Manchester now has a cough and my brother and his family are self isolating. And my Mum and Stepfather went up to see them last week too! :(

Hopefully it's just a cough and nothing more serious.

Lol yea, that was my favorite part of the ship too. I'm near the end of the game and it may be my favorite FPS I've ever played. I had pretty much lost hope for a game like this being released again. Id didn't hold back and it's fantastic. Sure it can be repetitive at times but man when you get about 1/3rd of the way through, it picks up and it's a great ride. Graphics are so damn good in the back half of the game too. I also love the way they've turned "Doom guy" into an actual character and developed him more with the story. It's at a minimum a 9.5/10 for me. Only reason I don't slap a 10/10 is because I feel like the game forces you to glory kill too much and that got a bit stale for me.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much just yet. We are in flu season AND allergy season currently. Which is terrible when we're also in the middle of a pandemic with a new virus that is identified by the exact symptoms of allergies and the flu.

I have a mild cough and irritated throat. But it is the same one I've gotten around this time of year for at least 10 years now. It happens when Pollen and Mold is high (which it is here in Texas currently).

My cough is from an irritated throat. For Coronavirus, the cough originates from the chest, and is usually a dry cough.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be postponed, according to (and this is true) a fella named... Dick Pound.

We've just had a new provincial order announced to close all non-essential workplaces for two weeks starting Wednesday, so it looks like I'll be using up some vacation days and staying home for a while. I've been enjoying Doom Eternal, but didn't get too far into it over the weekend. Looks like I'll have plenty of time for both Doom and Half-Life:Alyx now.
