I used to do my combat flight sims with ASW disabled, but for the last few months I have changed to flying them with it enabled.  It has been working pretty well for me. Bout the only thing I see is sometimes some slight ghosting of a plane as it flies past me.  It pretty much alleviated some occasional stuttering I might get from time to time with it disabled.

Motion smoothing does seem to be "hit or miss". Some games profit a lot, and some don't.

Fortunately No Man's Sky - like Paper Beast - seems to be a hit for motion smoothing. At least today I could do res 200% and use Ultra settings, and the was smooth. If I disabled motion smoothing, the game wasn't smooth at all, so it was close to a night and day difference enabling motion smoothing or not.

No Man's Sky has so poor graphics I'd love to use Rift CV1, but the game does not seem to support native Oculus drivers.

Did also try VersaillesVR, which was awesome, but that app worked best with motion smoothing off.

@RuneSR2 -I'm certain people would lose their jobs if they stacked shelves that slow. :D

@RuneSR2 -I already have a HP G2 on order, but I will also look at a Valve VR headset if they update the index displays. Nothing beats Valve's tracking, so I look forward to seeing if they produce another VR headset.

I will also look at the PS VR 2 and hope Samsung produce a standalone VR headset. I have a feeling the PS VR 2 won't have you tethered to the PlayStation though. I'm sure I saw something about a PS VR 2 headset being wireless.

Many are looking at the Global health lockdown as a time accelerator regarding development. While products can not be released, the R&D continues and not in a vacuum as is the case when considering consumer products.

The Virtual CES and lack of conferences will also magnify this situation, so now we are in the position of having leaks that the next phase (Six) of VR will have some amazing entrants:

1- Panasonic = standalone (6G wireless* tether)
2- Samsung = 1. standalone (6G wireless tether), 2. Next Odyssey PC-high-end, 3. AR headset
3- Sony = PSVR2 with optional wireless (possible 6G wireless tether)
4- Acer = OjO2 (6G wireless tether)
5- HTC = 1. Focus2 (6G wireless tether), 2. VIVE Cosmos2 with optional wireless [very sketchy]
6- Varjo = Varjo2 PC-high-end (lower price)
7- Microsoft = Hololens3 (6G wireless tether)
8- Valve/HP = Reverb-S PC-high-end (lower price)
9- Facebook = 1. MR headset wireless, 2. Oculus Quest-S standalone, 3. Oculus-Pro standalone
10- Apple = MR headset wireless (possible semi-tether)

*= this is part of the Qualcomm MR range of processors features

This would be the most crowded VR/AR (MR) headset lineup in recent history and would definitively split the camps between high-end PC and Standalone before the next phase makes this immaterial.

Have been slightly bored lately, and tried Alyx and Boneworks again last evening. The magic is still perfectly there - gloves on Alyx just look real. Like the res of CV1 ss 2.0 looking quite good when you're like 10 cm or 1/3 foot away from an object - but using Index in Alyx the res looks breathtakingly real when I hold the gravity gloves close to the hmd - hard to imagine that G2 will be significantly better, but I guess it must be. Btw, where I'd like more res is not close objects, but objects being far away. Still far away objects look great using the Index - I really don't feel the need for more res, I just want some games that take advantage of the awesome res new hmds can provide.

Maybe time to get back to Room VR, which also has ultramersion textures - but I might need help, kinda stuck in that game

I just bought Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It's played with Xbox controller though, and there are some stereoscopic issues with the port when text is displayed. But other than that, the visuals are gorgeous, and if you can't get past the aforementioned issues, the game rewards in spades.
I very much reminds me of Obduction in terms of difficulty of puzzles, quality of visuals, as well as the feeling of loneliness. The game is dripping with ambiance.

I bought it when it originally came out, made feel a bit sick though as it had a number of issues the devs never fixed.

I may load it again though when the G2 comes.
