Another victim of Brexit - for now if you live in the UK, you can no longer RMA your Index hardware, even if you have warranty:

I wonder if Valve is going to remove the UK entirely from supported countries if this does not get fixed soon.

Ths is more red tape than anything else and it should be fixed soon, it is just taking time and the ongoing pandemic is also impacting on it as well as everything else.

Really sad about Brexit - I loved shopping at Amazon.co.uk, but not anymore - now I get 25% VAT plus a $25 expedition fee on every item including the shipping cost - quite prohibitive. Had to use Amazon.de instead - but that's by far not the same. I wonder how many profit from Brexit compared to the losses, but we can't discuss that here.

^^Yeah it's a bummer no doubt about it but the transition period was always going to be a royale pain for everyone, but in time as things get worked out it will settle down, and no doubt why my Index has been on 8 weeks delivery since September, but not much we can do about it at the present time but try and mop up the spilt milk we spilt, the best we can. lol

According to Road to VR, Index is the best PCVR hmd you can get right now:

Well best all round PC VR maybe but then again depends on what you want. Why nobody can claim the title at present. It's a bit like claiming the Matrix is the best film ever but the next guy does not like Sci-Fi.

I do love my  index though for my requirements and glad I got it before the Brexit prices kicked me in the nuts. :)

Index 2 next year though, OLED 140 degree FOV and HP resolution up to 144hz ;) I called it

Valve has started offering refunds to those having ordered from the UK, in case they don't want to wait for a now uncertain delivery date:

^^At least that is something for those that don't want to wait, although i am happy to wait and if i get it sometime this year then i am fine with that as i have a few VR HMDs to fall back on in the mean time, and i had to learn that lesson the hard way as i had it pre-ordered last year and then like a idiot i cancelled it for the Quest 2, more fool me now with hindsight. lol

Nice article about treating anxiety and depression using VR - the author does specifically mention the Valve Index, but of course this article could be about many other hmds as well:

Then again, only a blind person would not mention SDE difference, and that dude does not mention SDE.

Always fun to read new positive reviews, before habituation kicks in - this dude started with CV1, then got Rift-S - and now something else arrived ðŸ˜Ž

This is day one with my index, and I've gotta say wow. Just wow. It's hard to describe the feeling this headset has given me so far.

1.) The knuckles controllers are amazing. They are really comfortable in the hand, coming from a Rift S before this, this is a huge upgrade for me in terms of comfort and tech.

2.) The FOV is a big increase and feels like I've just opened my eyes in VR. I don't know if I'll be able to go back to a Rift S after this (I never will but still)

3.) That refresh rate. Oh man. It's like going from your first 60hz monitor to a 144 hz monitor. That is how it feels to the eyes for me. While playing Beatsaber, it felt like I could read the note charts much better due to the refresh rate.

4.) The built in headphones/speakers on this thing. Honestly surprising, I've heard good things about this, and while playing I totally forgot they weren't actually resting on my ears.

5.) Lighthouse tracking. Amazing. I had a CV1 before the Rift S, so I never liked having to route cables all the way to my PC, so that is why I went with the Rift S. After learning that lighthouse tracking literally just needs to be plugged into the wall I dove in for the index. And my goodness. It's insane how accurate it is. I had zero tracking issues playing any of the games I played tonight, where on the rift S I would get minor tracking issues here in there.

I know right now I'm in the honeymoon phase and mentally justifying my purchase, maybe in the future I will find gripes with the index, but right now I just wish I didn't have to work tomorrow so I could play all day lol.
