Into the Darkness looking pretty sweet!

I really hope Dark Curry devs get it right - Undead Citadel could be the one game to top everything else this year

It's also coming for PSVR, so QA is high and might explain the launch delay.

Hmm, but it's just another "wave shooter," only with swords and arrows. We've had these wave shooters since 2014. If it does manager to top everything else this year... it's only because this would be another year without any AAA games released.

Luckily, RE4 is coming to Quest 2 and Lone Echo 2 should be released. Both of those titles will likely top everything else this year, unless another studio has a secret AAA project that gets released in the next 7 months.

Graphically, Undead Citadel may feel nice for gamers who spent all that extra money on an Index and a 3090, and hoping to squeeze the most out of the purchase. But any VR Enthusiasts looking for the best VR experience will likely be let-down by another wave shooter.

Right now, RE4 and Lone Echo 2 are making the biggest waves in the VR Enthusiast community.

That's most of them for me also Rune. I'd personally add -

Sniper Elite VR

Myst - PCVR version

Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Tempestfall

Warhammer 40k Battle Sisters - PCVR Version - this is quest trailer

Hubris - This game could be awesome.

I Expect You To Die 2

Song in the Smoke - Survival game cause I like that sort of thing.

Ru77 (If they get the jank out... looks like an amusing looking game from Boiling Steel devs)

Tinker Pilot - These devs are still plugging away at it but doubtful it makes 2021. This was original announcement trailer. They post a lot of stuff to discord only as it's still Pre-alpha. Posted a video of hyperspace travel this morning and it's looking good.

Ziggy's Cosmic Adventures - I like cockpit games, could be amusing.

Against - Beatsaber/Pistol whip like game

Ultrawings 2 - Possibly Q4 - no trailer yet. I enjoyed the first. Hopefully this one has bit better gfx.

That's probably enough. There's others like Vertigo 2 and such but I'm not sure what their status is these days.

+1 for Myst, Warhammer games. I'm especially keeping an eye on Hubris. That looks like it has some real content to create a full experience (not just pretty graphics and action).

RU77 looks interesting, and reminds me a lot of Technolust.

Overall I'd like to see more VR games like Myst and Hubris, where devs have spent a lot of time building a world with both depth and meaning. I'm much less interested in "pretty assets" coupled with rinse/repeat controller interactions.

First teaser trailer for Green Hell VR just arrived - looks awesome, and also looks like my 3090 and 10900K will be working hard to keep up fps, all those trees surely will be taxing:

The view distance looks stunningly great - and there're dynamic shadows too, thus looks like highest-end VR gaming to me, and I really hope performance will be good.

Oh nice, they finally added an official VR trailer for green hell. Been waiting for that. I've seen a lot of the footage from VR already but I felt like it deserved its own trailer.

I played Green Hell early on before they added much story to it on Monitor. Even on monitor it was kind of a beast lol. No idea how performance is these days but yea... that's likely a game I will have to use a lower res headset. I look forward to exploring it all in VR.

I do believe Green Hell was made for oled - devs are all showing Quest 1 + Oculus link in this vid:

We'll see if this game works best on Index or CV1 when the time comes - no big deal to me, still love the great old CV1, lol. And kept it for the many games still profiting from better blacks and TAA.

These new images are from the VR version:

Unless devs can do magic like Valve, this really looks like a solid RTX 3090 game to me, lol.

Was thinking about some ports and other stuff that's coming.

Subnautica - Below Zero just released and it has a working VR mod. It's full VR but gotta use a controller

Vertigo 2 - Dev posted a vid a month ago so seems to still be on track.

Breathedge - This game released recently to good reviews and Devs are working on VR now. It's kind of a Space Subnautica mixed with Prey.

Agony Unrated - Devs recently posted that they're working on adding VR. Should be...interesting lol.

Some others -

DEMAGNETE - Looks like a cool puzzler. Kind of get a Portal vibe. The Devs just posted a couple of weeks ago that they submitted their final build to Sony and once that's approved they will announce release date so should be soon.

Eye of the Temple - Roomscale puzzler. Should be this year according to devs but no guarentee.

I keep waiting for a good VR MMO to kick off. I enjoyed Orbus but it was a bit on the simple side but I haven't tried it in over a year. Here's a couple I've been watching.

Ilysia - Targeting Q4 2021

Zenith - VR MMO

Stress Level Zero Project #4 - Unannounced title to bonework followup.

Trial by Teng - Form Devs making another puzzler. They're still hard at work on this. I see updates posted on their twitter regularly.

Yea Stormland is a game that's better experienced with a native Oculus headset. It's one of the few that Revive doesn't work perfectly for. Even with a 3090 I had to reduce settings and still had some HMD lag when head turning. It looked great on my quests though. Might just be a WMR thing. I'll revisit it with Vive when I get it. (Unless I return it anyway).

It's just the waste that's hanging me up with keeping it. I know I will not be using the Index headset once the Vive Pro gets here, so 500 bucks for a couple weeks of use is a bit excessive lol. But we'll see.

And yea I have/had much more expensive hobbies than VR. I have a 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 that I have much less hours on than VR and I definitely haven't spent anywhere near that much on VR....maybe if you add up all the games too lol but I don't think even then.

Just got Index setup to try. Ugh I forgot how much I hate these offset thumbsticks lol. Shoulda swapped the sticks with the touchpad but I digress.

Grabbed a daquiri with 190 proof in it on my way home.... so by the time I got home I kind of lost any inhibitions about sending $500 into the trash. 😁

First impression is...hello SDE my old nemesis. Definitely more visible than Q2 or G2. 2nd instant reaction is the overlap around my nose is distracting. I can't see my nose area at all, just a cut off....and that's as far as I got. I got hit with a prompt to do a million firmware updates so I stopped and doing th;at.

I only play in total darkness - but I've always loved that you can peek out under the nose, exactly like you can with the CV1, helps fight the worst disorientation, lol.

How about columns, any vertical columns when moving?

Another thing is performance - I'd recommend trying Alyx in 120 Hz High settings if you want to test the Index 😎

I did Alyx on 90hz on max settings so far. Wanted an apple to apple comparison with G2 for visuals. It looks better on G2 visually to me but it looks great on both. I'll go back in and compare 80, 90, 120 and 144 when I have more time. Obviously Index controllers and tracking win. The variable pressure can crushing is enjoyable.

I'm also reinstalling some blur games to check out. Like Asgard's Wrath or Lone Echo 2 experience. etc
