Was getting slightly worried, no updates for two days, but it seems everything is alright ;)

My USB situation:

In short - I still have the USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C (VR Ready) port which I intend to use for the Index, the 3 other USB 3 ports are used for CV1 and sensors. Index needs an extra power supply, but I wonder if the Type-C wouldn't be enough (I think Type-C can provide up to 100 watts if needed), but I'll probably play it safe for a start and connect the Index to a second power source.

If this works - connecting Index and CV1 to the same rig, I'll be seriously short of USB 3 ports, lol (still have 2 ports in front of the case, but maybe they are shared with other ports).

Buy a power hub ?
A PC with lots of gadgets inside and a thing to see in 3D that you put on your head.

I don't think it'll be a problem - Index HMD has 3 connectors: Power, DisplayPort and USB. My thought was that I may not need the power connection when using USB 3.1 Type-C (supplies up to 20V, 5A) through an adapter (got one from my Samsung S10+, it should work). When using an RTX card it's possible to use VirtualLink supplying all the power to the Index that's why I think a normal Type-C should be able to provide enough power. But it may put a bigger burden on my PSU, maybe it's better to get some external power and play it safe for a start.

BTW, these are the normal connection options, the VirtualLink cable isn't included and sold out at the moment:

With all the faulty headsets launched recently I'm not even exited about my next VR headset. The excitement has being replaced with which headset should I buy and will I have to arse around sending it back due to faults.

I've had my Index for about a week. I've had no problems with it. It is my upgrade from the cv1. I would have bought a cv2 had it been available.  I'm very happy with the new HMD in all respects.  No problem with the joystick in Skyrim, great display, comfortable headset.  It has justified my purchase and I have not been tempted to go back to the rift.  I might have jumped ship but will watch with interest to see what Oculus comes up with beyond the rift-s.

I tried the Index for the first time today and I'm globally disappointed. I've got the left stick issue, it doesn't click well when pushing forward and it can loose the registered action so in arizona sunshine for example I may stop running if I push the stick right forward. Really annoying. There are others issues. The comfort of the knuckles are not as good as touch controllers. It doesn't feel natural at all and the sticks are difficult to reach.
Let's talk about the headset itself now. The fov is comparable to Odyssey+, but with a slightly better horizontal fov. Nothing spectacular but really nice. It adds to immersion for sure. BUT... there is a big problem with the LCD panels on my device. I can see vertical lines of pixels on certain textures/colors when moving my head. Really, really annoying ! In Beat Saber it's very distracting. I tried to switch frequencies, changing resolution, steamVR beta but nothing helped.
Too much for 1080€. Refund. I prefer my Rift S !

Yea that sounds like a bad panel. I experienced nothing like that.

It's disconcerting to say the least.

In another curve ball life has thrown me,  I reluctantly sold my Index. :D A friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I told him to put his money where his mouth is and show up with cash...well he did. I pointed out the issues I had to him and made sure he understood why I'd consider selling it but he still wanted it...so it got sold.

I'm jealous of the people that are not distracted by what I see and get completely blown away and immersed by it.

Not sure what direction I'll go from here but I'm curious to read how others here perceive it. I still have a net positive opinion of the Index kit. A part of me wants to re-buy it and see if the lens is any better with a different unit but with my kids consuming more and more of my VR time lately I'm not sure that I will.
