The Music Thread

Here's mine...

I'm a huge fan of The Metal but I think I'll start with some of my legendary, less angry, favorites.

Probably my favorite band of all time across all genres is Primus. I've seen them live twice, and I've seen Les Claypool live in his solo act once.

It all started with "Jerry was a Race car driver"

For those who don't know Les, fun fact: he once audition for Metallica and they denied him based solely on the fact that he is far too damn good for them.

I've seen tons of bands live (Slayer, Megadeth, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Korn, System of a Down, Pantera, Slipknot, Lamb of God - to name a few). But Primus is the band that showed me first hand the largest mosh pit I've ever seen, and it was to this mighty cute song:

A few thousand people went ape shit at the 1:37 mark.

I hold in high regard just about everything Claypool releases; if I had to pick a favorite song it is simply, Here Come The Bastards

Another new one from Siames.

This is also testing videos on the new forum.

It seems simply pasting a URL doesn't inline videos anymore. You now need to click on the Insert Video button.

Would be really great getting the URL accepted again - right now we have thousands of URLs instead of inlined/embedded vids.

- and an option to quote other posts 😉

There's no quote option if you just start writing in the reply panel. You need to hit Reply on a specific post then a quote button appears in the toolbar (looks like a double quote). It does make it VERY annoying to reply to several different posts at once, since only 1 post can be quoted.

Anyway, let's have some robot music, in honor of Daft Punk retiring.

A great cover of Heart's Barracuda by Cybertronic Spree

I'll Rust With You by Steam Powered Giraffe

Kraftwerk's The Robots

And one from Daft Punk: Digital Love (my favorite from Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem)

Hard Floor is giving me Amiga demo scene vibes.

Those were the days, lol.

Really miss my (Space) Quest games, no one can make proper adventure games these days, sigh...

The Deponia games are pretty good for modern point & click adventure. I love the art style in them.

Interesting to see Cevin Key deliver some of his finest work at this age - ok, maybe not better than Skinny Puppy of course, but I find his new album Resonance quite awesome. Cevin Key is 60 years old today:

- also Bill Leeb from Frontline Assembly isn't exactly getting any younger too - soon 55 years old - these pictures are a few months old (Jan 2021):

- Seven Trees might actually be the younger ones of the artists in my previous post, lol:

Note that Seven Trees didn't always look this nice 😉 - here's an earlier photo:
