Question

What is Oculus doing to encourage computer shops to stock Oculus Products?

I noticed stores have Vive's in them but no Oculus.
I suspect Vive is going to take over unless they team up with Steam or something. And, that would be a shame. I suspect their next model will be very good..
I prefer Oculus and always will, but they have the investment to make and improve more than Oculus? As well as a better media campaign to sell their product?

Classic Americans thinking they're the only ones that exist.

    Our only options are Amazon

Microsoft sells the Rift to America, but not to Australia. Oculus isn't the only company that has limitations with selling to other countries. And Microsoft kinda runs the world with their OS.

Also, Amazon is the largest online retailer on the planet... and they are based in Seattle, WA. That's in America too B)

Your statement that Americans think we're the only one whom exists isn't very accurate. It's just that all the major players (Amazon, Microsoft, Valve, Facebook, Oculus, Apple, Google) are headquartered in America.

You literally just proved my point. There are 7 billion people in the world, under half a billion in the US. Tell me again why a global company would not care about the rest of the 6.5 billion potential customers?

I also wasn't talking about the companies, I was talking about people like you.

The rift has virtually no presence here. I told some work mates I was getting one and they just gave me a blank stare until I told them it's like a Vive. That should tell you that they're not doing enough. There's no presence in electronic or PC stores here. You can get a Vive though from multiple places and even try one in some cities. Why Oculus avoids this is mind boggling.

Your complaint is about companies, but then you say it isn't? I don't think you have a firm grasp on your problem situation lol

First of all, you can't be talking about people like me because I'm someone who looks at things more globally, as noted by main argument:
"The biggest retailer in the world, who plays a huge role in causing
other retailers to close down their physical stores, is Amazon"

You said yourself that Amazon ships to your country; and before you chimed in, I had already noted Amazon as an ideal global retailer. I am speaking globally, not nationally. So... you aren't making much sense by calling me an "American who thinks only America exists," if my primary example is the biggest GLOBAL retailer.

Actually, what it tells me is that the people you work with either don't have the Internet, or don't spend much time looking at "world news." Which makes your nationalist complaints rather ironic.

Yes, in Australia it is very hard to get at our local major computer store chains. I seen them selling Vive but not Oculus. The freight from the US is expensive too.

I just bought the earphone piece as well..

Where is it shipped from anyway? Hong Kong? Are there any plans to expand to more countries in future?

It would still be great to see them on the shelves of say EB Games, JB-HiFi or Harvey Norman ... even Target, K-Mart, Big-W would be great places to sell them from.

I agree @KillCard  but alot of those stores are closing up now:
    http://clark.com/shopping-retail/major-retailers-closing-2017/

K-Mart and Sears are closing 43 more stores, in addition to over 200 that were previously closed. GameStop is closing over 150 stores as well.

Amazon is bringing retail in to the future, and physical shelves are slowly but surely taking a backseat to virtual ones.

Welp .. the K-Mart I visited a few days ago is still open at least ..

GameStop was never huge here to begin with. They have been getting crushed by EB Games and JB Hi-Fi for decades.

Maybe in America but none of that is happening in Australia yet because Amazon hasn't arrived here yet. Even then it will be a few years for attitudes to change and lead to the closure of retail stores.

Yeh the retail industry is failing in Australia. Most people buy on-line.
All though, MSY computers is still cheaper than buying items on-line.
They are all asian at the shop so I suppose they have the connections.
