Question

Why so hateful towards Let's Players?

I intend for this to be a serious discussion. Why is our community (Mostly on Reddit) so hateful towards Let's Players? A few friends, and myself, have posted videos before in the OVR subreddit at times, and were met with tons of negative attitude. I could understand if the content was having an adverse effect on the public opinion of VR, but it has been nothing but knowledgeable and genuine. If they don't like these Let's Play OVR videos so much, why not simply ban them in the rules?

Honestly, I'm pretty upset over the whole thing, and the elitist attitude with which we are met is at times quite disgusting.

The hysterics mostly come out with horror games with Markiplier. Jack is just enthusiastic and admittedly somewhat loud, but if you watch him play a horror game it's pretty watchable vs a Markiplier which is just going to be him obviously playing up his screams to appeal to what his fans want to see, same with Pewdiepie. Jack mostly just shouts his catchphrases like "Speed is key!" and "I love balls!" which are obviously there to appeal to his young fans that think shouting is funny, but otherwise I think he comes off fairly normal.

As for Ksic, I agree he can be annoying and he's prone to hysterics, but he's one of the few LPers that does Vr content on a consistent basis, so I still watch his videos.

Some people are born a-holes some are just jealous pricks, kids, wannabe bullies, failed youtubers (gee I wonder why)... Doesn't take a lot of effort to act like an ass on the internet. It's the oldest game in town. Anonymity and all.

Personally, I wouldn't pay much attention to the creeps and the trolls. You can only hope they'll grow out of it, or else, well, even more reasons to ignore the sad old pityful creatures.

I watch a few casters here and then. Kinda like watching TV or listen to the radio, some background noise. The ones I like the most are the no commentary. I've watched full runs of classics, Bloodborne, Witcher 3, Alien Isolation. Beats what's on TV every time.
