Question

Willing to let me borrow your Oculus?

I've had contact with Cybereality, and he said that it would be ok for me to post this request.

I've been following the progress of VR since the mid-80's, and have always been excited about its' potential.
Yet, I have never had the opportunity to try or work with it. I will be purchasing the consumer version of the Rift when
it comes out, but cannot afford to purchase the development kit and consumer version.

I have checked the map showing local Rift owners willing to demonstrate their devices, but none are close.
My question is anybody out their willing to let me borrow their Rift?
I am willing to pay the shipping both ways.

I am working on a graphic engine for the Rift as well, and will freely release it when it is far enough to be usable. I believe in the VR community, and wish to contribute to it openly what I can.

I live in Keizer, Oregon, and program in my free time when not working.

I appreciate any help provided.

    This is the current state of my renderer.

    I know my radiosity method is hosed. It's a WIP. Actually it all is :-)

    But I just wanted to post a pic if anybody was curious.

    I have no idea how it will look on the oculus yet.

    I'm definitely open to what needs improving.

    Looks cool. What technology are you using to write the renderer?
    AMD Ryzen 7 1800X | MSI X370 Titanium | G.Skill 16GB DDR4 3200 | EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 | Corsair Hydro H110i Gigabyte RX Vega 64 x2 | Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500GB | Seagate FireCuda SSHD 2TB | Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV

    I'm programming with c++.

    Right now it's all unoptimized cpu driven
    hack i've been creating and modifying.
    It's a hodgepodge of methods depending
    on what i need it to do at a given time.

    I use OpenGL to transfer it to the screen
    though.

    I do most of my thinking sleeping, or at
    work; or sleeping at work JK.
    I try it out, and see what sticks.

    I'd like to apologize to the community
    for having gotten snappy with those in this
    discussion. I have a bad habit of taking
    things overly personal due to things in
    my past.

    Here's to the future.

    I was at work looking at the buildings and the area around them. I was noticing how the light interacted with the
    different surfaces. The light coming out and in the windows, the reflections and how their color changed depending
    on the glass. it gave me an idea for a different methodology, and this is the result.

    I know it still needs work;
