Question

Apps in library keep reinstalling themselves.

So recently I was on the meta quest app looking for new free games and I purchased a big number of games and the next time I put on my meta quest they were downloading but I canceled them. But they kept reinstalling themselves, I canceled all the downloads and tried downloading just one of those games but instead in started redownloading the group of games I had purchased on the meta quest app.

I don't know what to do and it's taking up space on my Meta Quest 3, please help.

    Hi ghoxztz 🙂

You can simply uninstall the games to free up space on your Quest, right?

Hey there, it sounds like you may have encountered a bug. We would recommend using the Meta Quest Software Update Tool, as it can provide stability and bug fixes. You'll need the USB-C cable that came with your Meta Quest and a computer (PC or Mac) with at least 2GB of storage.

Try these steps to force your headset to update to the latest software version:

    1. Back up data. Use cloud backup to ensure your device’s app data, like app progress or app settings, is saved in the cloud.
    2. Power off your device. Press and hold the Power button located on the right side of the headset to power off your device.
    3. Load the boot screen. Press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons until you see the USB Update Mode Menu. When you see the USB Update Mode Menu, release the Power and Volume Down buttons immediately.
    4. Select Sideload update. On the boot screen, use the Volume buttons to navigate to Sideload update. Then press the Power button to select it. Once selected, remove your headset.
    5. Load the software update tool. On a computer, load the software update tool webpage using a compatible web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Opera).
    6. Connect your device. Use the USB-C cable that came with your device to connect it to the computer. If you’re using an Elite Strap, ensure the cable is connected to your headset and not the strap. Then click the "Connect device" button on the tool's webpage.

We hope this helps you out! We'll see you back in the Metaverse!
