Question

Can't remove apps added to the Meta Quest Link (PC) app

So, you can add apps to the Meta Quest Link app on PC, and I have. I was working on VR mods for The Joy of Creation: Reborn 4-5 years ago. I have almost immediately removed the apps from the software because the the mod was more trouble than it was worth.

Well, since then, anytime I launch the game, it automatically launches the Meta app, which is REALLY ANNOYING. I cannot find a way to stop this happening. And this issue has been persistent across 3 WINDOWS INSTALLS.

WHY CAN I NOT PERMANANTLY STOP THIS GAME FROM OPENING THE STUPID META APP?!?!?

It's worth noting that unknown sources is turned off.

In the Meta Quest Link app on your PC, click the three dots (...) below the game icon and select "Uninstall" or "Remove from library" 🤷‍♂️.

Give me some credit. I've done this. I've disabled Unknown Sources, I've clean installed Windows 3 separate times, and I've redownloaded my games from Gamejolt. And despite all of that, the games still open the Meta app.

You wrote in your heading:

I simply gave you instructions how to do that. You didn't mention in your post that you had done this already, so how was I supposed to know? I am not a mind reader. 🤷‍♂️

This is a common issue with the Meta Quest Link desktop app. Currently, there's no official "remove" or "delete" button for apps manually added to your Quest Link library (especially custom or non-Oculus apps). But here are a few things you can try:

1. Edit the app list manually (Workaround)

If you added apps manually, they’re usually stored in a config or JSON file:

Go to:
C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-client\
or wherever your Oculus/Meta software is installed.

Look for a folder or file that stores your custom apps or shortcuts—sometimes these are added via a config or database file. Unfortunately, Meta hasn't made this very user-accessible.

Note: Editing these files directly can be risky and might cause app instability. Back them up before changing anything.

2. Reinstall the Meta Quest Link app

If you're stuck with a cluttered or broken library:

Uninstall the Meta Quest PC app.

Reinstall it fresh from the official Meta website.

This will usually reset the app list, but you'll lose any manual entries you’ve made.

3. Use Oculus Debug Tool (ODT) – limited use

ODT doesn’t let you remove apps but can help diagnose if entries are being incorrectly loaded or cached.

4. Wait for a Meta update

Many users have requested better library management in forums and Reddit. Meta may address this in a future update, so keep your app up to date.

TL;DR:
There’s no official way to remove manually added apps from the Meta Quest Link PC app right now. You can try editing config files or reinstalling the app as a workaround, but it's not ideal. Hopefully Meta improves this in a future update.
