Question

Hand Tracking broken after 2.3 update, legacy OVR skeleton deprecated? Looking for help with this

Hi all,

We have several Unity projects (built with the legacy OVR hand skeleton) that broke after the Hand Tracking 2.3 OS update. Hand tracking is no longer functioning on affected headsets.

Our setup:

- Unity with Meta XR SDK (legacy OVRHand / OVRSkeleton components)

- Multiple projects and experiments affected

- Some headsets have already updated, others we are keeping frozen

From my research it looks like the legacy OVR hand skeleton was deprecated as of SDK v78 and the fix is migrating to the OpenXR hand skeleton, but I wanted to confirm this is the right path before we commit to migrating several projects.

A few questions:

1. Is the OVR β†’ OpenXR skeleton migration the correct fix for breakage caused by the 2.3 update?

2. Is there a minimal-change workaround for projects that can't be fully migrated right now?

3. Are there any known issues or threads about this specific breakage we should be aware of?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi VRlab.fmri πŸ™‚

I think, you might find more knowledge and better help, if you ask in the developer forums.
