Headset won't boot past spinning Meta logo

Our oculus has been stuck on the spinning Meta logo for about two weeks now. We have looked up youtube videos, tried the soft reset, logged in to meta account online, and made sure it was charged. It was stuck on red, then stuck on orange 'while charging', and now it is stuck on white and the meta symbol is still stuck spinning. Where should I go from here? @

Hey guys, if you're still running into issues on a boot up you might want to reach out to support to see if they have anything that might help. If it needs to get replaced, they can help explain some options to you as well. I'll drop the link HERE.

I  just got the same issue and after checking my last sync was 06/12/2024 at 9:46 pm and funny enough my last update was 06/12/2024 at 9:46 pm so your update is killing the meta quest 2! Either fix it or replace it!! This is starting to look like a class action lawsuit to me because you have known about it for years and done nothing. Same with autos and a recall........

My headset is NOT having this issue. I would like to mention that first... I'm here to offer a POSSIBLE solution to the problem. PLEASE let me know if this fixes the issue. There is a website (that I can't mention here... for obvious reasons (the name)) that allows you to download the latest update for the Meta Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest Pro, and Kindle. The website is by basti564. I'll link a YouTube video with instructions on how to force update your Quest headset. Again, PLEASE let me know if this works.

You WILL need:
HARDWARE:
x1 USB to USB type-C cable
x1 Windows, Linux, or Mac computer
x1 Meta Quest (or later) HMD

SOFTWARE:
Platform Tools -------> SDK Platform Tools release notes  |  Android Studio  |  Android Developers
A Command line interface (i.e. Command Prompt or the like)

That's all.

I've been having this issue with my Oculus Quest 2 for the past 2 weeks and nothing seems to work. Tried doing a factory reset and it still went directly to the spinning blue logo.  Tried leaving it in the charging station for 2 days to see if it will boot up or reset by itself, but it didn't.  I tried the above sideloading twice and  each time it did not work.  Again, once it powered back on it went straight to the spinning blue logo.  All this begin with the latest download and hasn't worked since.  With so many people getting the same issue makes me wonder way Meta is not doing anything to fix this issue or do something.  All they seems to keep saying is to do a factory reset.  How many people are going to have to tell them that a factory reset is not working before they get it thru their thick head that something needs to be done.  Makes me wonder that they aren't doing anything because they want people to go out and purchase the new Oculus Quest 3.  I'm just about ready to take this thing and toss it from the highest building I can find and switch over to another VR company.

My old Quest 2 started having this problem last week (after an update of course). Meta Support said that I could buy a refurbished one for $150. I would not call that a fix though. It seams that this is caused when the headset updates. If that is the case then it sounds like Meta might purposely be disabling units so they can sell more headsets (or get rid of the excess refurbed stock). After reading the posts here it looks like my Quest 3 might have this problem soon. I really like my Quest 3 and I have been using Meta VR Products since Oct. 2020. I have always recommended Meta Quest Headset over any other HMD on the market and would like to keep recommending them. I really hope Meta can solve this problem before my Quest 3 has this problem.

They just tried to do the same with me.  Support wasn't able to help me getting me device to work so they forward me to their Meta Store Support who offered me another Quest 2 for $159.99.  I responded with: I've been noticing that there is a really large amount of people complaining online about this same issue with their Quest 2 and that it all seems to be occurring with the updates and that Meta isn't really doing much to help them or fix the problem. Some are also starting to suggest that maybe this is Meta's way of getting people to upgrade their VR devices. So, for me to spend $159.99 to get another Quest 2 that more than likely will start having the same issues as the one I have now really makes no sense to me. In the past I was thinking about getting the Quest 3 but I have also been noticing that people are now also starting to complain about this same issue starting to occur on their Quest 3. I think I will look at other options for now and decide what I want to do. Thank You.

Maybe their will look into all this and make things right.

Chri.VR It's good you still have warranty. If you haven't tried yet, connect your headset to your pc and use the Meta Software Update tool. Just might fix it, I'll put a link below, (second link) If it doesn't, try a factory reset. If neither works you might have to return it. But I'll leave another link (first one) where you can talk to a Meta support person who is a human, not an AI and they can advise you. Good luck!
