Installing Oculus App on Drive OTHER THAN C: Drive

Hi,

I have spent the past several hours attempting to run the initial Oculus Setup, but every time I get past the Terms and Conditions I get a screen saying that I cannot connect to the Oculus Servers (which I know is false--my Internet is working fine). After scrolling through several other forums and posts, I think if I am able to install the App onto any drive besides my C: drive (I have three drives -- C:, D:, and F:), my problems will be solved. BUT, I cannot figure out how to start the installation on my F: drive. I have tried to follow the steps on this page:

https://support.oculus.com/help/oculus/1676275305961321/

numerous times. Whenever I enter "OculusSetup /drive:F" into Run, Windows replies something similar to:

"Windows cannot find 'OculusSetup'. Please check your spelling and try again."

If anyone has suggestions for installing on separate drives, any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Okay. Figured it out once and for all.

I can't believe Oculus nor Meta could make the right instructions.

It's ridiculous.

Here it is once and for all.

1. Place OculusSetup.exe in the new drive directory (i.e. F:).

2. Press Win+R to bring up run prompt and type cmd then "Enter".

3. Type cd/ after C:\Users\(username)>.

4. Type OculusSetup.exe /drive=[drive] after C:\>.

5. Presto!

Works like a charm every time and I'm a newb.

The problem are the subsequent directories are the problem and might be in conflict with certain usernames (ones with spaces i.e. first and last names or companies).

This method had the most consistent results so had to share to put the final nail in the coffin to this problem.

LZoltowski's advice is the CORRECT advice. Use the command prompt and follow his instructions and VOILA!

My bad, when the dialog box comes up and I click on it, it disappears. Now what?

all this is silly...
Installer will let you choose the location for the games and apps to install but not the main software ...
I can't get it working even with all the tips from this thread.
It keeps asking me for permission to let the program installed and then just nothing happens...

SOLVED! So this thread is the top result when googling how to install the Oculus app on a non-C drive. I thought I should add my solution here for future googlers.

Using the Run app as instructed by Oculus didn't work for me, so I opened a cmd prompt with Administer privileges and simply entered:
C:\Downloads\OculusSetup.exe /drive=F

With "C:\Downloads\OculusSetup.exe" being the full path to the installer and "F" being the drive of choice for installing the software.

This also worked for me. Thank you!
Also, just in case this wasn't obvious to anyone else, make sure you don't already have Oculus installed. I had to uninstall Oculus from my C: drive and then run the command in cmd prompt to reinstall it to my other drive.

Has anyone resolved it for those who get the command to work, a permission box pops up, you hit YES and then nothing happens after?

I have tried everything above, but after giving permission it does nothing :/ I would really appreciate any help if people who experienced the same got past this issue.

Update: I got it working so ... access command prompt as administrator and type c:\Users\test\Downloads\OculusSetup.exe /drive=W

Change your username and drive type. I found the command /drive:W didn't work, only worked once I typed in =
It didn't ask for permission it just started the setup right away. Hope these helps those who were struggling.

It's crazy alright! Crazy that ease of installation is less important than all the "eye candy".
I think that Oculus' ears are just painted on.

Just as they don't tell us to DISABLE ANTIVIRUS when installing. Obviously they test nothing ever!
