Meta Quest 1 - Oculus Core Mobile Services keeps stopping - Factory Reset
Hi,
I'm having a serious issue with my Meta Quest 1 and I'm running out of ideas.
The headset had been sitting unused for several years. After turning it on again, it started having system problems.
Current issues
I keep getting the following errors:
- Oculus Core Mobile Services keeps stopping
- FirstTimeNux keeps stopping
- Earlier I also had SystemUX keeps stopping
Sometimes the headset boots into the Home environment, but the errors continue to appear. Other times it won't reach the Home menu at all.
What I've already tried
- Multiple Factory Resets.
- USB Update Mode.
- Successfully installed the official Quest 1 v50 OTA using ADB sideload from a Windows PC.
- ADB completed successfully (Total xfer: 1.00x).
- Recovery reported no errors.
- After installation, Software Update says "No updates available."
- Performed another Factory Reset after installing v50.
- Paired the headset with the Meta Horizon app again.
Before reinstalling the firmware, the Meta Horizon app always got stuck on the Safety/setup screen. After reinstalling v50 and resetting the headset, I was finally able to complete the setup.
However, the system errors are still there.
Current status
The headset is usable, but I still get repeated "Oculus Core Mobile Services keeps stopping" messages, and occasionally "FirstTimeNux keeps stopping."
My questions
- Has anyone experienced this after a clean v50 installation?
- Could this indicate failing internal storage (eMMC) or a corrupted system partition?
- Is there any known fix besides Factory Reset and ADB sideload?
- Is there any way to completely reinstall the Quest 1 firmware from scratch, including the system partitions, instead of just applying an OTA update?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
