Meta Quest Link not working anymore, stuck on grey loading screen

Hi! I'm really hoping that I'll get the help I need the help I need and been searching for weeks now.

Here's the issue: I installed Meta Quest Link in order to use my Oculus Rift S, followed every instructions needed and I've been able to make it work without any issues. The actual interface once with the headset worked properly, I was using it like normal until when I tried to launch the ''First Steps'' experience for the first time, I ended in a loading screen on the headset and this screen above this text appeared on my PC within the Meta Quest Link app, it seems like I'm stuck in an eternal loading screen. I tried to close it and restart the app, nothing. I've even uninstall the app to reinstall it after, still nothing, repaired the app with ''OculusSetup'', also nothing. I can't make it past this loading screen and be able to use my headset like normal. I don't know what to do, I tried everything in my power. PLEASE HELP ME!

No idea if you fixed the problem, but I had this exact issue, and managed to fix it.

This fix would specifically be for rift s or other PC run VR headset

Basically, all you have to do is start steamVR, and load into a game or the steamVR home. From there you should be able to press the flat button on the right hand controller within the headset, to access the menu, and select close on first steps. The grey screen on the oculus app on PC screen should then go back to the menu.

Took me way too many reinstalls of oculus/meta link, to figure this one out. The grey screen is just the first steps application glitches.

Hope this helped

Hi there snooowls,

Thanks for reaching out regarding the loading issues you've been facing with the Meta Quest Link application on your PC. We'd also like to thank you for letting us know all of the troubleshooting steps that you've already attempted.

We know that you've stated that you've already attempted to repair the app as well as uninstall it. If you haven't done so already, we highly suggest uninstalling the application once more while making sure to delete all Oculus folders from the following locations, needed for a complete clean re-install:

- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData

- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local

- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow

- C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming

- C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache

Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.

  1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
  2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter.
  3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
  4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.

Once complete, restart your PC and reinstall the application again using the setup tool from our website. If you're still running into the same issue, please PM us so we can look further into this for you.

I've had the same problem, tried reinstalling multiple times, deleting folders in appdata etc etc. Nothing worked but this one, it worked perfectly. Thank you!
