Question

mobile and VR headset separated

Hi everyone, as you’ve probably all noticed, mobile and VR headset are now separated. That sucks pretty much if you have friends on mobile and VR headset in Meta Horizon. I don’t know what you guys think about it, but it really sucks for everyone. That’s why I want to urge you all to go complain to Meta. So that hopefully they will reverse it all. The more complaints, the better. Thanks in advance, Han

Opinions differ on this for some people who were interested in having a more gaming focused headset, are very happy that Worlds is no longer in their face every time the headset starts up. I admit to being one of them. For others it was very important. Unfortunately the service was costing a lot and the numbers of users declined rapidly. I believe existing worlds are still on VR   just no new ones. The user base dropped in just 9 months in 2022 from, I think, 500,000 to only 300,000. Now, in 2026 it's apparently less than a 100,000. It just failed as a concept unfortunately, probably why other headset makers didn't do it. Another app, not related to Meta as such, Rec Room, has also shut down due to financial losses. Not wishing to throw more bad news your way, but I reckon Horizon Worlds mobile won't be around for very long either. The VR chat app might be the way to go for the time being. There has been already a campaign of sorts here, ages ago, so you're very late to the party, but only a few hundred people complained about it. It's dead. No point in wasting time on it. It's not coming back.

Hi, first of all, thanks for your reply. I don't entirely agree with you; you guys sort of rolled back the VR headset again. From no access to Meta Horizon at all, to access to the Meta Horizon app. Why then wouldn't you roll back the mobile and VR headset settings to communication as well, or perhaps not roll back either? As long as it takes, since you already say that mobile access doesn't take long either, it doesn't matter anymore anyway. Steam has everything well organized. Almost never any problems, with you guys always something..... Regards, Han

Thanks for the response too. I understand that you disagree with me. Not a problem, everyone has different views. Firstly when you said "you guys rolled back the VR headset" there are no Meta employees here, we are all just users volunteering our time to help with specific headset issues people might have. We don't have anything to do with Meta commercial decisions. πŸ™‚ You are right about Steam being organized and the reason is they stayed away from the metaverse and Horizon Worlds idea and concentrated on it being purely a game based headset without the unnecessary fluff of social media. You could get the Frame when it arrives I suppose but you're not going to be getting what Meta is getting rid of. When the Quest 4 eventually arrives (specs rumors look very good) it will be similar to the Frame as a pure gaming headset likely with Worlds totally gone, only a far bigger standalone store.  I think there is an app called VR chat available on most platforms where people can communicate, but it's not integrated into the ecosystem which is good. The future of VR social media doesn't look good with Rec Room also shutting down due to financial losses. Unfortunately, the reality of life is each division needs to make money to stay in business. Anyway stay well my friend, there are still plenty of social media apps available and maybe VR can come back if someone finds a way to make money from it.
