Need help – Brand new Meta Quest won’t charge or turn on

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help or advise me.

My brother purchased a Meta Quest in February 2026 from the UK. Due to his work, he never got a chance to open or use it. The box remained completely sealed.

He brought it with him when he returned to India in May 2026 and gave it to me. I only recently opened the sealed package, but unfortunately, the headset doesn’t charge at all and won’t turn on, even after trying different chargers and leaving it plugged in for an extended period.

Since the device has never been used and was sealed until I opened it, I’m surprised it’s completely unresponsive.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything else I can try before assuming it’s a hardware issue? Also, would Meta support be able to help in this situation, considering it was purchased in the UK but is now in India?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Lucky_Kaizoku 🙂

won’t turn on, even after trying different chargers and leaving it plugged in for an extended period.

What is an extended period..... a few hours? I'm not sure, if the battery can draining that deeply after months in the package, but I would let in on the charger for days.

The other option you can try, is blip charging. Read the first comment from the thread in the link below.... it explains what you must do.

Also, would Meta support be able to help in this situation, considering it was purchased in the UK but is now in India?

Yes..... and no.🤪

You have warranty if you buy from a official store, but Meta sends replacements always and only to the country where the headset has been shipped for selling..... regardless if you are in a supported country(India is not supported) or not.

Means.... I'm in Germany - a supported country - if I buy a Quest in the UK and need a replacement, Meta won't send it to a German address. 🤷‍♀️

So, Meta would send you a replacement to a address in the UK. If you have friends there, you could give Meta their address and after they received the replacement, they could send it to you........ a pretty cumbersome procedure.🙁

The other option If you can't bring life to your Quest with very long charging or blip charging, is  looking for a vr headset repair service.

Choleni has some good options, however practically speaking as for warranty, forget it. I live in Türkiye, (not supported) and bought mine in Germany. If it breaks I'd have to fly back to Germany, send it from the address I use there, then wait months and fly back again when a replacement arrives. I could buy 2 Quests instead for the same money! 😁 But don't give up on it. Try the blip charging, you never know, and good luck

Maccyb123  I think, you don't need to fly back to Germany, you can send it from Türkiye, put in the address from family or friends in Germany and they can send it to you when the replacement arrives.

I believe TomCgcmfc  did it like that. If I remember correctly, he bought one of his headsets while visiting the US - he lives in Australia - and needed it replaced.

Still...... it's very cumbersome.🤪

Choleni Yes it sounds like a simple solution, but unfortunately it's not. In Türkiye it would be flagged by the tax authorities as an import and they would charge up to 50% tax on it as if it was a new device. Which..........is the reason I bought it in Germany while there and carried it with me in my backpack to Istanbul. 😁 I can buy one here but with the tax and 3rd party sellers markup it's about double the price.
